The Christians have been urged to Repent and believe the good news of Jesus Christ in this Lenten season. Speaking at St. Augustine's Cathedral Church today, Fr. Geofrey Nakutan said that Penance is an important Sacrament that reconciles people with God.
Fr. Nakutan added that each Christian has to pray so as not to be tempted by the evil one as he Tempted Jesus. He said that prayer strengthens there relationship with one another and with their God. He also called upon all the faithfuls to listen to the word of God and read it always putting it into practice in their day to days lives.
The priest urged the Christians to fast against the pleasures of this world and give alms to the poor. He called upon all to take up their responsibilities in the community. He said that failure to fulfill ones responsibility amounts to sin that one has to repent in this season. He also warned that the devil from outside is their friends and from within is oneself! He thus urged them to be cautious with what they do and say. He urged all to seek for the srength from God which will guide them in their lives.
Fr. Nakutan gave the message of the Holy father Popoe Benedict the VI which urges all to Read the word of God daily, listen to it and Acts of Charity. He challenged them to be accountable in what the do and avoid selfishness and greed that can deny the kingdom of God.

Kakuma Boys Secondary school which is also known as St. leo's Secondary has been closed down due to strike. Speaking yesterday in the school compound, the District Education officer of Turkana west Mr. Wilson Koromboii send the students home indefinitely until further notice.
Mr. Koromboi who was also accompanied by the executive Board of Governors led by their Chairman Fr. Paul Areman send the students have been sent home due to unrest that occurred at the school on Friday the 24th February 2012 where the students Damaged the school property and made away with other valuables belonging to the teachers.
Investigations into the cause of the strike are yet to be determined and the parents and students will be informed as soon as possible of when the school reopens. The whole school is out and awaits further communications from the Board and Education office.

Ash Wednesday has been described as time reflect ourselves as human beings of our actions.
Animating a mass today at st. Augustine's cathedral, his lordship Dominic Kimengich noted that this is a sign to the human that in the presence of God we are all dust. He said that it is time for God's manifestation to reflected in all human beings through prayer and fasting.
The bishop stressed that fasting is not only avoiding to eat but to change from our previous characters.
He insisted that Christians should intensify their prayer time and fast to overcome their own weaknesses, which is addiction not only to food, but from our sins. He called for Christian to take their faith seriously and move closer to God.
Bishop Kimengich was speaking to Christians today at st. Augustine's parish during the launch of the Lenten campaign, which is set to run for the next 5 weeks.

The peace and justice co-ordinator catholic diocese of Lodwar, Mr. Christopher Losiapat has stressed that lent season is not just for prayer, but also enables Christians to come back to their senses and be able to give to their brothers.
Speaking at St. Teresa's pastoral center, during the one day workshop, that brought together the 25 parishes of the catholic diocese of Lodwar, Ekaru said that beginning from the ash Wednesday, to a period of 5 weeks Christians are supposed to fast and pray spiritual strength.
He said as peace and justice department, they are involved in preaching peace , uniting different communities and facilitating guidance to other paralegals.
Mr. Ekaru called for Christians to involve everybody, including those who are not Christians, to this activity that is demanding.
The commissioner of peace and justice in charge of the central dinary Mrs. Veronica Lojao called for the participants in the workshop to be ambassadors of peace in their various parishes. She said that it is important for men and women, to unite and transform Kenya in preparation of the celebration of the world women's day on march 8th 2012.
The workshop was facilitated by the peace and justice co-ordinator Mr. Christopher Ekaru, paralegal officer Mr. Daniel Edaan and peace officer Mr. Joseph Ekuwam both from the peace and justice catholic diocese of Lodwar.

The Pastoral co-ordinator of the Diocese of Lodwar Fr. Joseph Okpala yesterday asked the Secretariate to reflect on where Demons went when Jesus casts them out. Speaking During his Homily at St. Thomas Chapel yesterday, Fr. Okpala said that people who cast out demons must be aware that if they do not direct them to some place, they will come back to them in full swing.
He said that Jesus cast out Demons in Authority that is why he told his disciples that they cannot cast demons with Incarnate word but With Prayer. He informed the staff that there is no Guarantee that being a christian brings happiness in ones life. He urged them to humble themselves before God in prayer as they cannot do much themselves without Direct contact with God.
The priest urged the staff to serve the community of Turkana County with humility and not pride so as to receive Gods Blessings. The staff were urged to be very careful with what they do as it can do them more arm than good.

St. Augustine's Church Choir started Shooting their Fourth Volume Album at St. Augustine's Cathedral Church today. The Cathedral Choir which has been preparing from Last year entertained the faithfuls with their lively Hymns during Mass, Animated by St. Christopher Small Christian Community named after St. Christopher who is also the Patron Saint of all the travelers.
The Eucharistic Celebration which was led by Fr. Boneventure Emathe was also attended by the Students from Turkana Girls Secondary School who were en route to Scouting Trip to Lodwar Mixed Primary school among other Christians. The Chairman of the St. Augustine's Cathedral Church Choir Mr. Meshak Ekiru said that the Fourth Volume will be entitledVaeni Silaha” which is meant to alert the Christians be prepared to fight the devil always in their lives.
Speaking today after mass, Mr. Ekiru said that the Album will be for the entire Community of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish and all those who Love praising God with their singing talents and thus urged all to participate in the shooting process so as to produce the best results. The Various Small Christian communities were encouraged to put on their various “Jumuiya” attire in the shooting process which will take three starting today the 19th February to Wednesday the 22nd February 2012.

Christians have been called to have all done for the glory of God. Speaking during the third mass celebration at St Augustine parish today, Fr. Bonaventure Emathe said that, Christians have a poor understanding of purity. Referring to the Gospel where Jesus healed a leaper, The priest said that people understood leprosy as a punishment from God, which is wrong.
Fr. Bonaventure said that Christians should learn how to treat someone who is in need of their help and that they should do to others what they expect to be done to them. Giving an example of a man who helped a sick man on the road after listening to an advice, he said that if one runs away, he or she is running away from God.
The priest stressed that Christians need to know who a good neighbor is. The mass was attended by students from secondary and primary schools from within Lodwar town.

Nakwalele development organization's projects that aims at fighting against poverty and embrace hygiene, today was launched officially at Nakwalele chief's office.
Speaking during the launch, the manager community development funds Mr. Joseph Ruyo said that the aim of the project is to promote agriculture which includes bee keeping, animal keeping, maintain environment, constructing dams and peace keeping in the county. Mr. Ruyo said that 4milion shillings will be used to construct a modern slaughter house for the farmers in the county, to reduce loss that is normally met during dry seasons.
The project is also expected to reduce poverty, improve education standards, water preservation, forests preservation and to reduce dependency of relief food among Turkana community. The community development fund donated more than 19m while the CBO contributed more than 2m. The project will be working in the three division of turkana central district.
Among the guest present were the lodwar municipal mayor David Kinyonge among other provincial administration and local leaders.

Christians of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish have been told to pray in oder to receive the strength from God. His Lordship Dominic Kimengich said this today when celebrating Mass at the Cathedral parish. He said that prayer in ones life brings fulfillment and strength.
His lordship said that when they work for God everything becomes possible as compared to when one does against his will. He urged the faithfuls to pray when working since the work they do is for God and not theirs and thus they need God's protection and guidance. His lordship mentioned three types of work in church being, to Proclaim the good news, building a community life leveled with a sense of belonging to each other in a brotherly manner and above all leading a prayerful life.
He challenged the Christians to examine themselves and see what they have done to bring the good news of Christ to those who have not heard about it. He also asked them to reflect on their various calls and identify the part of Christs body they belong in as they endeavor to build the kingdom of Christ on earth. Bishop Dominic said that people get burned down by their works because they do not pray. He thus urged the Christians to cultivate the culture of prayer in their day to day lives so as to receive strength.

Christians from students Mass which is the 3rd one in the Cathedral Parish have been encouraged to believe in one holy and Apostlic Catholic Church which was founded by Jesus Christ himself and not be cheated by false Prophets and churches, His Lordship Dominic Kimengich said this today during his homily at St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish.
The bishop said that many churches and prophets are in the world claiming to be the saviours of people, he warned the faithfuls against false prophets saying that Jesus is the only true prophet whom they should believe in and belong to the Catholic Community which was founded by Peter the Apostle and which is now led by Pope Benedict the VI and that they should remain firm in their faith and not let anyone destroy them.
The students were informed not to listen to anybody else apart from Jesus Christ. Mentioning on their School performance, his lordship encouraged the students present to work hard in their studies inoder to bring joy and happines in their various families and not disapointments. The students were also urged to put God first in their lives so as to enjoy peace of Christ.

Christians and local agencies such as the Local Authority Transfer Fund (LATF), Constituency Development Fund (CDF) among others have been asked to give assistance to children from needy families to enable them pursue their education.
Addressing Christians today at St. Augustine's Cathedral Lodwar, Vicar General Fr. Joseph Ekalimon, said that it was sad to see children fail to go to school due to poverty and yet acquiring education was one of the keys to solving some of the problems faced by the community.
Meanwhile, needy parents have been asked to forward the names of their children to the Diocesan bursary office through their respective Small Christian Communtities (Jumuyas).
Announcing this in the church after the second mass, St. Agustine's Church Committee Secretary, Richard Ruto, said that consideration will be only given to needy cases.

The equity bank Lodwar branch is unveiling the wings to fly 2012 scholarship today at mikeka grounds.The branch manager Mr. Job Nyorsok has revealed that the bank in conjunction with other partners is investing in education not only in Turkana but all over Kenya, where by 2140 pupils of the last year's KCPE have benefited from the programme. He added that the branch is proud that 20 pupils from all over the county have been absorbed in the programme. He said that the programme does not aim in only providing education, but gives other arenas of learning
The 20, will be traveling to Nairobi on Saturday 28th for a three day induction programme before being awarded their full year scholarship. The programme which is run by Equity bank in conjunction with equity group foundation, master card foundation, USAID and UKAID through wings to fly is targeting bright children from poor back grounds. The ceremony was attended by Patricia Ekadeli and Josephine Walela from the DEO's office and KEPSHA Turkana county chairman Mr. Samuel Losuwat. The national launch will take place on 1st February in Nairobi by president Mwai kibaki and will be aired live on National Media for Kenyans to follow the event.

Christians have been advised to always use the sacrament of penance to strengthen their faith. Speaking during his Homily today at St. Augustine's Cathedral, Lodwar, Fr. John Kizito Manzi said that obedience and and doing God's will were paramount to leading good Christian life adding that God will never abandon those who obey Him.
Reminding the faithfuls on the call of the disciples, he said that all of the four disciples who were called first never asked Jesus questions but obeyed him and followed him immediately.
He further said that cost of discipleships entails sacrifice since one has to leave behind all she/he has in order to respond to the call of Jesus. He challenged the faithfuls to always be obedient to God's Call in their lives.
He urged Christians to make a contract with God just as they always make contracts in their various places of work and sign to implement the jobs as stipulated in their contract. He said that the work of Christ is known by all and that God knows them very well and does not need to sign any contract with them since they know everything about the job.
He said that because Christians know who Jesus is they can also transform the lives of others who do not know him by becoming towers of attractiveness to others, that they can change.

The boda boda Association of Lodwar has dissolved its office after its term of service elapsed.
Speaking in the office today, the association's spokesman John Alemu, said that they dissolved the office yesterday after a meeting that was attended by all the out going committee members. Alemu who is also the technical adviser of the association said that they reached into the resolution after the out going officials being in the office for the last two years.
He called for any registered member who intends to vie for any position to get the nomination forms from the office. He warned the members from violating rules with excuse of having no office, that they will be punished severely by the hand of law.
The registration for aspirants is set between 23rd and 31st January while members from 21st January to 6th February. The election is set to take place on 10th of February, 20 days after dissolving the office.

Turkana community has been advised to collaborate with Government institutions so as to utilize fully the resources that are found in the County.
This was said yesterday by the leader of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Lillian Mahiri Zaja when she was responding to some of the issues that had been raised by Turkana community during the collection of views. The meeting, which was well attended was held at Anne Nanjala Centre, Lodwar.
Some of the issues that had been raised by the community were the mismatching of some wards that had been merged, creation of additional constituencies and wards, insecurity and resources that are found in Turkana.
Some of the leaders had said that soon or later, oil, gas and geothermal would be produced in Turkana, and therefore the district required protection.
Commissioner Zaja said that there was need for community to work hand in hand with all Government institutions so, especially Provincial Administration and Internal Security, so as to effectively address the problem of insecurity that was rampant in the region.
She pointed out that all resources that are found in the region could be exploited fully if the community worked hand in hand with other stake holders regardless of where they come from.
She further said that even if the commission fails to address the issue of additional constituencies and wards this time as the issue would be revisited during other reviews which will be held from time to time.

Turkana leaders today voiced their concern over efforts by their neighbours to annex part of their land. They pointed out some parts of Lomelo, Kapedo and Lorogon in Turkana East and South respectively as hot spots.
The leaders who were giving their views to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at Anne Nanjala Education Centre, Lodwar, through one of the civic leaders, John Lokaale Aule, said that the situation was worrying as it was now being claimed that instead of 77, 000sq Kilometres, the total area of the County had reduced to 68, 000sq Kilometres.
Armed with documentary evidence which included 1963 maps that showered the right administrative boundaries, they claimed that the present problem came about as a result of an illegality that took place in 1992 when boundaries were moved by the previous administration without consultation.
They requested the commission to convened a forum at which the concerned communities would meet, discuss and iron out the burning issues failure to which will leave them with no other option but seek legal redress.
The leaders also asked to commission to address the problem of duplication of voting stations that appeared in both Baring East and Turkana County to avoid confusion.
The Nairobi team was led by the IEBC vice chair, Commissioner Lillian Mahiri Zaja. Others were the Director of Human Resource and Administration, Sellestine Kiuluku, Risk Manager Nuh Ibrahim, Legal Officer, Salome Oyugi and Regional Elections Co-ordinator, North Rift, Bilha Kiptuge. Constituency Elections Co-ordinators for Turkana North, Turkana South and Turkana Central Constituencies; Paul Chemutul, Beson Esusa and stanley Kipkore also attended the hearing.

Former Turkana Central MP, Immanuel Ichor Imana, today asked the Government to address the issue of insecurity in Turkana County so as to save Turkana people from continued suffering due to repeated raids.
Mr. Imana who also at one time worked as Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Managing Director, was giving his views to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at Anne Nanjala Education Centre, Lodwar, saying that it was because of insecurity that some places in Turkana County were sparsely populated.
He said further that it was only through the addressing of insecurity problem that the people of the county would have fair and free election and also utilize their resources for their benefit.
Other local leaders who attended the hearing were the East African Legislative Assembly Member, Christopher Nakuleu and Turkana County Council Chairman, Eliud Kerio among others.
Turkana East District Commissioner, Daniel Obola also attended the hearing at which sensitive border issues touching on Lomelo and Kapedo land his area of jurisdiction were presented by the area local leaders.

The primary school zonal ball games for kanakemer zone kick off today at Kanamkemer primary school of the turkana central division.
The event brought together Napuu primary, Kanamkemer primary, Nakuluja academy, Loturerei primary, Nablon primary and Kakemera primary schools. In foot ball nakuluja played down kakemera 3-2 score while napuu slided over kanamkemer 1-0
In volley ball Napuu banged both Loturerei and Kanamkemer 2 sets to nill each.
The finals are set to take place tomorrow where the winers of the today's games. This is in preparation for the district ball games early next week.

Turkana West leaders, through Turkana West Leaders and Stake Holders Forum today, have asked to be given additional Constituency and award.
Giving their views to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at Anne Nanjala Education Centre, Lodwar, the leaders said that even though they appreciated the decision to split their former constituency, Turkana North, into two, their was need to create another additional constituency to be called Lokichoggio and rename the one which has been created from Turkana West to Kakuma Constituency. They also asked the commission to consider increasing the 8 wards they have been given to 9.
Turkana South leaders who have been awarded a new constituency to be known as Turkana East also asked to additional constituency to known as Tirikwel. They also proposed some of their wards to be split because they were vast and therefore it will not be easy to be managed effectively the way they have been merged.
The issue of mismatched wards played out when Peter Deric Emase Ejore presented his views asking the Commission to correct the areas which have been matched wrongly be corrected. He pointed out Napetet as one of them saying that it had been wrongly moved to Kangatosa in Kerio.

Evan Linus Ekai has urged the youth to experience the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in the feast of Epiphany during their 3rd Mass at St. Augustine's Cathedral today.The youth that have just started their 1 st term with a lot of Hopes for better results this year congregated to give God Thanks for their lives and ask him for his Guidance and protection. Fr. Ekai challenged the youth during his Homily to emulate the example of Christ so as to bring transformation to the community through their good actions.
Fr. Ekai said that the kingship of Christ is a unifying factor and not the one that divide like the earthly leaders who divide and rule. He challenged the youth to work towards peace and unity in the county in order to witness Christ in their lives.
Elsewhere Vicar general Fr. Joseph Ekalimon informed the faithfuls and the entire Turkana Community during his 2nd Mass at St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish to support Education in the County. Informing faithfuls on the issues of St. Kevins Secondary School, the Vicar General urged the community to support the appointed Head teacher of the school who will be working hand in hand with Brother Luis for the betterment of the school. He also said that Brother Luis will be in charge of St. James Juniarate to oversee the spirituality of the students studying at St. Kevins.

The Vicar general of the Diocese of Lodwar Fr. Joseph Ekalimon today said that baptism of the child Jesus reminds the faithfuls of their own baptism. Speaking during his homily, Fr. Ekalimon said that Jesus came to John the baptist to be baptized according to their traditions and challenged the staff to emulate that example when dealing with issues of Tradition.
Fr. Ekalimon also told the staff that Jesus respected and Honored their culture and traditions of that time and called upon all to always treasure their traditions. He added that during Jesus baptism, he wanted to reveal to all the work of John the baptist and to acknowledge it. Fr. Ekalimon said that Jesus was declared the son of God after his baptism and that was connected to him accepting to follow the mis tries of Light. The priest informed the staff that their baptism changes them as it did to Jesus. He asked the staff to advocate for truth and justice and transform others as one family of God and to remember to pray for all who struggle all over the world to evangelize to those who do not know the word of God despite many challenges.

A chief in kapedo was killed yesterday by people suspected to be criminals from Pokot.
The OCPD Turkana East Mr. Mathew mangiru has confirmed the incident saying that the chief was in a lorry that was taking relief food to kapedo from lokori. Mr Mangiru said the lorry had travelled for only 6 kms, when they had a break where a suspected criminal shot from the bush and killed him on the spot.
Mr Mangiru also confirmed that two Pokot who were doing business in kapedo, were killed in retaliation before others were rescued by the general service unit officers. On board were two students who were going back to school. The body was taken kabarnet hospital mortuary.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga today declared that there is no division in ODM as it is claimed by some people.
The PM dismissed the allegations that there is misunderstanding and disagreements between him and his deputy Musalia Mudavadi. He said that those are the allegations that are geared and pioneered by the ODM enemies who do not want to embrace democracy in an independent Kenya.
Speaking during the opening of the ODM office in Lodwar town, the PM said that every one is allowed to contest any position in ODM and that wananchi should decide on whom should lead them. He claimed that all enemies of his party will be ashamed if they will find him and Msalia supporting each other for presidency.
The PM has either revealed that there is a likelihood of having elections taking place this year. At the same time the assistant minister for forestry and wild life Josephat Nanok has claimed that the case that is faced by the four Kenyans at the ICC were caused by three parties. He said that no individual person should be blamed, but instead NSIS, mungiki and the 92 Mps who voted against the formation of a local tribunal to try the Ocampo six.
However the PM met all ODM delegates at Lodwar medical training college and he also met with the Turkana professionals at st. Teresa pastoral center where he preached all over Kenya as they prepare for elections late this year.

The minister for medical services professor Anyang Nyong'o has said that ODM is ready to implement the constitution fully, if it will make the next government.

He urged them to committed always, in order to archive the new years goals, as every one promised during the closure of last year's activities.
The bishop stressed on the need to contented with the little that one has, than eying on the big worldly material that one may not get for rest of his or her life. However, he called for everyone to involve god in their day to day activities, since nothing would one do without god's presence.
All the departments have fully resumed to duty, with the diocese eying to archive its new year's goals which includes offering better services.

Leaders of Turkana county are conducting a consultative forum, to set its own strategic plan that tends to be an eye opener of how the little resources available can be managed. Speaking during the opening of the forum, the drought management officer for Turkana Mr. Geoffrey Kaituko, said that the forum is purely to discus issues that affect Turkana, but not personalities.
The DMO urged the members not to politics with important issues, during their contribution, though he agreed that there is failed leadership.
This is the first meeting to held in Turkana, after the national and regional meetings that were held in Nairobi and Kitale respectively. This meeting brings together all leaders, including politicians and professionals from all levels.
As transition and decentralization of governance is yet to be experienced come next year, many counties are coming up with their own strategic plans.

Two teams have already made their way to semi finals which is set to kick off tomorrow in the lake zone tournament, that is going on in Kerio play ground.
The tournament which aims at bringing the youth along the lake zone together, started yesterday where Kerio played down Kangatosa 4-1, Nakurio vs Nadoto 1-0, Lokoyo 2 Naoros 1, while Lorengelup smashed Nangitony 4-0.
The games today entered its quarter finals where Kerio walked over nadoto 2-0 Lorengelup tied a 1-1 with Kangatosa, Nakurio disciplining Lokoyo 2-0 while Naoros stood firm against Nangitony 1-0.
The semi finals are set to kick off tomorrow where Kerio, Lorengelup and Naoros have already made their way through. A total of 8 teams are participating in the tournament, where various prizes are going to awarded to the winning teams.

There was an uproar from the public when their leaders complained of the plan to move brother Louis out from heading st. Kevin's secondary school. Speaking during the Jamhuri celebrations today at Moi gardens, theleaders led by lodwar municipality mayor David Kinyonge, they said that st. He said that during the sacrament of Baptism those baptized receive the light that guides them as they do their day to day activities. He warned that each person will be judged by how he or she has used the gifts given to him or her by God on the last day.
Fr. Nakutan advised the faithfuls to use their talents for the glory of God and neighbors. Fr. Nakutan urged the Christians to exercise their God given talent in whatever field God has given them to do it for the benefit of all in the community. One person was killed at Turkwel KenGen camp in Turkana South when
pokot bandits attacked and shot him as he was shopping.
According to Turkana South District Commissioner Mr. Joseph Kanyiri,
the 24 year old Ambrose Lokara was shot dead at around 9 pm when the
bandits attacked the area. DC added that the women who were serving the Lokara were also injured during the incident and were admitted at Kapenguria District hospital.The security forces are pursuing the bandits and no arrest has so far been made.The head of district security committee said he has deployed enough

order.In another incident two children and one woman are fighting for their

The forum that was facilitated by Commisioner Alice Nderitu (NCIC), Prof. Kimani Njogu (AHADI), and Pro. Olubayi Olubayi from the Global Literacy project who is also the consultant brought together 60 participants from North Rift to deconstruct their past differences so as to construct a shared future.
The participants were to develop a common understanding on the gains and shortcomings towards the realization of peaceful coexistence in kenya, provide an academic resource of choice on ethnicity and race issues in kenya, generate a deeper understanding of how a collective sense of 'we-ness' can be cultivate in kenya to build a body of knowledge on diversity to consolidate platform for implementation of the NCIC mandate, and lastly to inform and influence research based advocacy on ethnicity and form a basis for attitudinal and behavioral change towards embracing diversity leading up to and after the 2012 geeneral elections. Speaking during staff Mass at St. Thomas Chapel today, His Lordship bishop Dominic Kimengich said that if someone comes and seeks for forgiveness he or she has to be forgiven.
His lordship said that forgiveness is a very important virtue in life and one cannot continue carrying the burdens of sins. He added that when sins are not forgiven they destroy their health, causes stress to others and they should watch out for those activities that destroy their lives. He said that God does not want the venture of scandalizing other people as when they do something wrong they affect others. His lordship urged the staff to be good role models and should always search their hearts to see if they are doing things that help others or things that destroy them! Bishop Dominic encouraged all the staff to pray for priests to be strong in their Vocation so that they can continue supporting them spiritually.
Bishop Dominic also informed the staff that the priests will be having their retreat at St. Teresa's Pastoral Center for the whole week. Simon Mutai said that when one mentions anything that hurts the other person, he or she denies himself the blessings from God. Fr. Mutai mentioned on three examples of things that annoy the spirit of God among the people. He said whatever one pronounces in his/her lips in the form of abuses is a sin and makes one be far away in the kingdom of God. He warned that abuses can be emulated by children when said by adults and that they will grow up abusing people and deny themselves the love of God in their future lives. Fr. Mutai also mentioned on the failure to fulfill ones responsibilities and said that one can be held accountable on the last day. He emphasized on prayer and encouraged them to invite God to guide them in their activities. The priest challenged the faithfuls to always seek for forgiveness when they fall short of glory and said that when one does not reconcile here on earth he or she will do that in hell! So he encouraged them to always reconcile while on earth. The priest said that people's actions, appearances portray their self image. Josephat Nanok also called upon all those aspiring to the top posts to do it in peace and work towards unification of all in the County. Putting education at the forefront, all the leaders stressed on the importance of mobilising all the resources towards the development of the county. Kawalase River floods again as Rains pounds Turkana. The rains that started as early as 4.00am today have caused havoc to most places as houses flooded and streets in Lodwar rendered impassable. Several businesses stood still in lodwar town as vehicles from Lokichogio, Kakuma, Kalokol could not make their way to lodwar and other out of Lodwar. Fish dealers had no choice than to wait until the following day as the fish transporters are stranded on the other side of the river and activities paralyzed. One passenger having traveled all the way from Nairobi to meet a relative who was on the other side of the river and back to job seemed distressed. The holy mass which was celebrated by his lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich brought together Staff from Diocese to join Strathmore students to thank God for all the blessings granted to them all the times of their work within the Diocese. Speaking during his homily, Bishop Kimengich thanked the Strathmore Community outreach programme team that came all the way to visit and share with the staff of the Diocese of Lodwar in their activities of ensuring that the reign of Christ is felt in the Diocese through various outreaches. His lordship urged the staff and the students to thank God for all the protection as they endeavored to bring life to the people of Turkana. He also added that the love of Christ gives them the assurance that God is always with them and guides them in their work and that they should involve God in their plans. He asked them to reflect and look at incidences when they had planned without feeling God's presence. Bishop Dominic said that when one leaves God out of his/her life, one experiences emptiness. He said that the conviction that God is with them gives them the confidence to move on with life without fear for he is with them and carries them when troubles strike. The team that helped in the emergency response towards Hunger in the Diocese visited among other places Holy cross Parish in kakuma and shared with them the love of God. The community will keep on coordinating with the Diocese to uplift the lives of people of Turkana. His lordship had supper with the team and also thanked them very much for their generosity and wished them a safe journey back to Nairobi.

The Diocese of Lodwar is training small scale business women with an aim of stabilizing them financially. Speaking today after the two days training, at st. Augustine's cathedral hall, the diocesan livelihood officer Mrs. Agneta Ewoi said that they are aiming at women who are involved in income generating activities. She said that they are equipping them with basic business skills, to uplift their living standards. She expressed her disappointments on loan repayment among the youth, saying that they need put more efforts. the training which is always conducted monthly aims at training 40 women every month all over the county. On loan acquisition Ewoi said that individuals are given 5,000 shillings which is to be repaid in 5 months time. The first session of 20 trainees ended today, while the second will commence tomorrow at the same venue.

He said that the bishop and the whole church in Turkana will support the work of the program and asked other organizations to lend their support for the benefit of the whole county and the people of Kenya. Turkana region has been ranked among the regions which are in emergencies in the education sector. Speaking today at st. Augustin's cathedral hall, during the forum of the stake holders from the education sector, the coordinator of the NGOs and government Mr. Charles Karumba, said that this contributed to their focus in this region. He noted that Turkana is one of the poorest school enrollment with only 35%, compared to the national level of 105%. Karumba was surprised that a lot of funds have been pumped in the region, but with no precise results. He said that he cannot blame the community, since they are only to receive services but cash money. This forum brought together stake holders from the education sector and NGOs which have direct link to education.

Joseph Ekalimon. The vicar general informed the faithful to be witnesses of Christ in order to bring change to the community. He said that one cannot give what he/she does not have and thus instructed them to be witnesses of Christ first before witnessing others and spread the good news of Christ in thanksgiving. He added that the resurrection of Christ has to be shared when people are happy and enthusiastic and emphasized on the need of togetherness in order to change the lives of people. He also informed the Christians to put service first in their various vacations and proclamation of word needs to be a joint responsibility as the word of God is for all people irrespective of age, race, tribe and status. He also told them to adapt to the voice of Christ in oder to be his witnesses. He equated the church to a perfect family which is like an industry of faith. The faithfuls were reminded of their responsibility of taking care of the most vulnerable in the society. Giving incidences when Christians have overlooked on orphans, widows, disable and also the aged in the community. He challenged them to be good role models so as to attract others to emulate their good deeds in the society. He emphasized the love of neighbor and God since one cannot be an island of himself in this world. 20th October was a significant day in St. Luke's home for the deaf in Nakwamekwi when the Centre marked their 7th anniversary and memorial of their patron saint. The day started with the celebration of the Holy mass conducted by Rev. Fr. John Kizito Manzi who is the diocesan Educatio secretary. The holy mass of thanksgiving was conducted within the St. luke's home social hall which was attended by Bishop Dominic Kimengich, Fr. Rafel Cefalo the parish priest of Nakwamekwi, pupils of st. Luke'ss home for the deaf, their parents, provincial Administration represented by the local chief Enoch Ekulan, the head mistress of St. Bernadette school for hearing impaired Nakwamekwi, Eunice Mjuma the diocesan child protection officer among other guests. The celebration was a unique one as the children entertained their visitors to their satisfaction and the guests also gave their advice and speeches all revolving children issues, child protection and special needs of children with disabilities. The Bishop and all guests were very happy on the occasion and called upon all stake holders to support all children with disabilities and impaired who should be treated the same with others. During the occasion the parents who finished a course on sign language were awarded with certificated together with pupils who performed well in the district mock. During the occasion tribute and special mention was made to the founder of the home Mr. Jansen who made the place as it is now serving many children who are deaf. The administration also thanked the government for registering St. Bernadette primary school as a recognized institution accredited through the ministry of education. Later the pupils interacted freely with their parents and visitors. Special thanks to the benefactors of the home for the dead.

Catholic Diocese of lodwar emergency response team distributed food to Kangatosa community. The team was received by the parish priest Fr. Philip Lotiiman and he helped in distributing food in Naoros, Nataagilae, Kangagetei and Natiir. And the priest said that he will make arrangements to areas which did not get a share, like Akatuman. The relief food was donated by Tro’caire which is one of the funding agencies in the diocesan famine relief intervention. The chairman of the parish council of Kangatosa Mr. Johnson Ekuwam Ekitela gave the community perception of the food and appreciated on behalf of the community of the food aid donated. The distributing team called upon other well wishers to continue supporting this initiative of extending a helping hand to the needy and hunger stricken communities. The food distributed include maize, beans and cooking oil.

Oxfam held an early warning system consultative meeting, with its stakeholders at Nawoitorong women conference center. Speaking during the meeting, the tusk consultant Mr. Sammy Mutua said that most farmers in this region loose their animals due to lack of appropriate information. Mr. Mutua said that statistics show that the horn of Africa has lost more than 64 billion within a period of the last three months, where Kenya is not exempted. He noted that it is necessary to involve the local Fm radio stations in disseminating information to the farmers using mechanisms and modes that they can understand easily. Mutua added that it is better if the farmers were fed with yearly, monthly, weekly and daily report on climate changes and market prices. TJRC seatings started today at the Turkana county council hall, here in Lodwar where cases of mass killings was the topic of the day. Giving their testimonies, the witnesses gave evidence of killings which has been affecting all the departments that are involved in income generating activities.
They noted lack of security in lake Turkana that has caused most fishermen lose their lives, while the government seams to be negligent about it. Many questions were raised pertaining the perennial enemity that has been between the Turkana and the Pokot, which caused loss of many lives and livestock.
Some witnesses seamed to be overwhelmed with the bombing incident and the mass killings that were done by the neighboring countries, like Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia, in 1988 and 1989. They argued that the government has never taken any step to help the victims.
However the presiding chair man professor Tom Ojienda asked the victims to be open to the commission so that it can take the necessary action. Among the commissioners present were major general retired Ahmed Farah, judge Gertrude Chawatama, ambassador Baranhu Dinka and judge Margaret Shava.
The commission will be meeting women only tomorrow at St Teresa's pastoral center from 10.00 am.

The Diocesan secretariat have been encouraged to go beyond all the boundaries when delivering services within the diocese so as to experience the love of God in their activities. The Vicar general Fr. Joseph Ekalimon who was accompanied by the visiting parish priest of Loarengak Fr. Cosmas Longor said this when celebrating staff mass at St. Thomas Chapel today.
Fr. Joseph Ekalimon said that God has given them the responsibility of transforming the world to be a better place for all to live in in their various activities. He said that God is using the staff to reach out to the people in the community and that they ensure that they help all without discrimination and be flexible always in life.
Fr. Ekalimon said that God wants the best thing to happen in their lives and God changes their mandate to suit them. He also added that God changes their mandate and follows it to make sure that it helps them in their lives. The priest encouraged the staff to change their behavours and not inconvenience other people in life.
Fr. Ekalimon also encouraged them to relate well with others and avoid insensitivity, implement all their plans without postponing issues when they arise. He added that God always accompanies them in their lives and that they should be confident with what they do always. Fr. Cosmas Longor added that the staff should sometimes go beyond the policies guiding them if they want to help people in the community.

John Kizito Manzi said that each of them is the garden in their different ways. The priest said that God has given them different jobs in this vineyard and God is the owner of the Vineyard. Fr. Manzi said that God has leased the land to them to produce harvests.
The priest said that prophets were rejected when they tried to tell people the truth those days and the same can still happen in present life of the church. Fr. Manzi informed them that God sent his only son to liberate them. He urged them to take responsibility of this land in a loving, caring and honest manner.
Fr. Manzi urged the faithfuls to be always praying to God in peace and love. He added that they can produce good fruits when they do good things in there lives and vice versa. Hundreds of old people from various parts of Turkana county today converged at the office for the aged, to celebrate the world day for the old. Speaking during the celebrations, the help age co-coordinator Mr. Stephen Esukuku said that this was part of the celebrations that they normally have every 1st of October.
He blamed high consumption of alcohol by the old, that drags them from reaching the organizations target of better health among the old. At the same time the diocesan children's department officer Mrs. Eunice Majuma urged the old to maintain hygiene in their homes. She added that they should make sure that they sleep under treated nets lest they are transmitted with malaria.
During the celebrations, 135 old people were issued with nets and sheets that were donated by karatasi organization, through the diocese of Lodwar.

Turkana outreach ministry self help group since yesterday has been holding a training in Bishop Mahon center. The training was aimed at equipping people with knowledge about HIV & Aids and other sexually related diseases.
It was a successful training and those who attended were encouraged to know their status and those on ARVS are trained how to use them .
The chairperson Paul Ekal said that people should accept their status and those who have not yet been tested should visit the hospital as soon as possible. He said that knowing the status will help as one will get medical attention as soon as possible and will be advised on proper feeding and ways of preventing infections and with that one can live longer.
He added that one should not be ashamed of their status as it is a national disaster . He encouraged people to use protective measures when having sexual affairs to avoid transmissions.

Turkana water project owned by diocese of Lodwar has given hope to Turkana community . The water project has constructed shallow dams as a way of conserving water during rainy season for future use. The sub- surface dam s have constructed in lotunguna,kekunyuk,Nakabosan,kangole and sasak.
In lotonguna the villagers are happy as they have an alternative after their traditional wells have dried up. They have not yet started using the sub-surface dam as there is enough water in their traditional wells as it had rained recently.
In Kekunyuk the villagers are using the traditional boreholes which the diocese has found it necessary to improve it by providing the community with solar tracking system. In Nakobosan the project has constructed two rock dams. They have helped to hold water and and the community has enough water for livestock and for domestic use.
During the workshop held today at 3.00pm in Bethany house Bethany house Bernhard Fischer said that 4 schools have been selected as been selected as beneficiaries of solar systems.
Sasak primary in Loima district Lorugum parish.
Kekunyuk and Nakobosan primary school in Turkana East Lokori parish.
He also said 100 pit latrines will b e built in primary schools and the community is encouraged to dig pit latrines for their domestic use and the diocese will assist in construction once they have dug. The project coordinator Mr Joseph Ng'ang'a said that several have been issued to help the community in maintaining good health in their livestock

The faithfuls of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish have been urged to learn to forgive so as to receive God's Blessings. His lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich said this today during his homily when celebrating mass at St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish. His Lordship said that people expect to be forgiven by God yet they do not forgive others.
Bishop Dominic also remembers his 25years in priesthood and thanked God for his guidance and providence. He was ordained priest in 1986 by Nding'i Mwana wa Nzieki. He was Ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Lodwar on 22nd May 2010 and installed the Bishop of Lodwar Diocese on 30th May 2011. He said that it was good for him to thank God for taking care of him for all the 25 years and urged them not to take anything for granted. He also informed the faithfuls that Sister Esther Erus is also celebrating her thanksgiving Mass at St. Mary's Kalokol Parish today and urged all who might be celebrating 25years in their lives to thank God for all that .
He noted that difficulties in life make people to be sick and get destroyed since they do not forgive one another. His lordship added that when one forgives from the heart he or she receives God Blessings. Residents of Kangole and Sasak villages in Loima district have been urged to take care of the sun tracking solar water project, in order to achieve better results on water supply. Speaking today during the project's assessment, the water engineer social worker from Horizont 300 Mr. Bernhard Fischer said that all the piping should be properly monitored so as to ensure equal supply of water to the residents.
He added that there was need to hurry up the sub surface dam at Sasak village for the residents to have clean water for their domestic consumption. However, he was proud to note that more than 5000 people are benefiting from the same project, which is used for irrigation, domestic use and watering the animals.
At the same time the Horizon 3000 program officer Kenya Katharina Fulterer said that the project is one of pilot that her organization is working on in the east African countries. She added that the apart from water projects, they are also involved agricultural projects and human rights.
The project assessment team will be moving to Turkana south tomorrow, where it is supposed to visit Katilu and its environ.

The programmes manager for the Mary's meals charity from Scotland Mr. Chris Mufale, has said that the project in Turkana is aimed at improving the lives of children both physically and mentally. Speaking today during the assessment of the project at Nameyana and Nasiger nursery schools, Chris said that the situation of drought in the region compelled his organization to shift the attention to the children. He noted that food is necessary for the growth of children, and it is easy to feed them when they are in schools.
At the same time, the programmes' monitor Mrs. Abeer Maccintyre was proud to note that the project is covering 35 nursery schools all over the county, with a population of more than 3,000 children. She added that apart from Kenya, the project covers other countries in Africa which include Malawi, Liberia, Sudan Zambia and Uganda. She added that the organization is feeding more than 557,000 children in more than 16 countries all over the world.
However the nurseries co-coordinator for the diocese of Lodwar Mr. John Njagi said that the running of the project has some challenges, which includes poor terrain and far distances between schools.
The officers visited Nameyana and Nasiger Nursery schools today and will be visiting two more schools tomorrow. The Mary's meals food supply is also set to start tomorrow.

When the world is celebrating world literacy day, high percentage of illiteracy is still recorded in Turkana county. The report revealed today during the celebrations, showed that the 2007 survey recorded 9.4% female and 9.7 male illiteracy respectively. Giving the report, the district adult education officer Mr. Dominic Ngoko, said that there is much to done especially by the stake holders to improve the level of education in the region.
At the same time the district officer one for Turkana central, who was the chief guest Mr. levy Senoga urged the parents to take their children to school in order to compete for top positions in the county. However, he said that the top positions will be for people who have qualified in various fields.
The celebrations which were held at Nawoitorong chief's camp was attended by hundreds of people, from Turkana central, Turkana south, Turkana east and Loima districts. During the celebration the chief awarded certificate of merit to 40 graduands from various adult education institutions. It was also attended by the DEO Turkana central Mr. Wycliffe Wamoto, the District Adult Education Officers from the 4 districts.

The Catholic Secretariat of Lodwar were informed today that, when they do not pray in faith their prayers are not answered. Bishop Dominic Kimengich said that the intention of God the father is that all people should reach heaven.
His lordship said that this intention is not always met due to various approaches people employ in worshiping God that makes them become problems themselves. He said that God cannot force us to follow him in the issues of faith but it is upon each one of us to respond and answer the call of Christ to do his will and not their own will.
His lordship also added that the challenge is with us and how we will respond to the invitation of God to reach heaven. He also said that God does many things to them that people do not need to see to believe but just believe without doubting. He challenged the staff to put God first in their lives and other things will follow so as to respond to the will of God.
Bishop Dominic invited all the staff to see their relationship with God, just like the apostles who requested God to increase their faith. He noted that the staff have so many insecurities within themselves that makes them lack the trust in God. He encouraged them to have the trust in God that he can help them in all they do.

The Christians of St. Augustine's cathedral parish have been urged to respect human life and dignity when correcting someone. Speaking today during his homily, father Cosmus Longor said that when correcting others one should be humble and careful in order not to put them in traps.
The priest said that people should know that they have been created in the likeness of God and they are all brothers in Christ. He noted that none is perfect and that every one is weak, through this they can make their relationship grow.
He insisted that most time people do away with those who correct instead of accepting the correction. Giving an example of people who help others because they need help back, he said that they should be ready to help anybody irrespective of whether they will help back or not.
At the same time the Christians of st. Augustine's had brilliant moment to wellcome vicar general father Joseph Ekalimon, who is taking over from father Francis Teo who is out for further studies. However, father Ekalimon congratulated the Christians for their generosity and urged them to work together for the success of the diocese. The Swedish minister for development cooperation Hon. Gunilla Carlson has appreciated the efforts that are put in place by the ministries of agriculture and water for carrying out practicals on food production. Speaking today in Lodwar town where she was carrying out assessment of projects funded by her government, she said that the horn of Africa is affected much by drought hence making it difficult to carry out humanitarian activities in the region.
Carlson insisted that there is need to strengthen our responsibility in capacity building about food production through irrigation. She was pleased with how some of these mini projects which are funded by the Swedish government, are run.

The director st James Juniorate who is also the assistant priest of st. Augustine Father Simon Mutahi, has urged the youth to turn to the lord, since Christ is full of light and life.
Speaking today during the recollection with the youth of st. Stephen at the st. James Juniorate center, the priest said that a large number of youth is lost in worldly things, instead of seeking spiritual life.
Father Mutahi noted that it has been a big challenge to bring the youth together for the common goal, especially for the development of the church. However, he was courageous that the reaction of the youth showed that they had learnt something from the day's theme which was what do the people say Christ is.
The priest gave an example of the world youth day that was celebrated in Madrid, Spain that was led by Benedict XVI and attended by hundreds of thousands of youth. He called for youth to attend the Sunday's mass in large number, since it will be their last day before opening, where they will be blessed together. His Lordship said that people sometimes don't want anyone to interfere with their affairs which when one shares and truth said saves the world. He also added that when people are not courageous enough to correct things that are not good, he said that one destroys the world by keeping quiet and urged the staff to be courageous and speak out the truth just like John the baptist and never fear the consequences.
His lordship also added that People who speak out of love, Love the place and will not want it to be destroyed by lies and bad deeds. He also said that if one does not correct evil ,then the punishment will fall on him/her because they kept quiet. He said that there is the voice of God in them that speaks thats to them if they pay attention to their conscious.

Prison officers who have been undergoing the three days training, have been urged to change the face of their place of work. Speaking today during the graduation of the trainees at st. Teresa's centre, the peace and justice administrator, Anthony wood said that the commitment that was shown by the officers meant that they were ready change.
The facilitator of the training Mr. Lenson Njogu urged the officers to be positive for change, since it is effective for both parties including themselves. He said that as an individual, one should be responsible for his/her own actions either good or bad, since time for collective responsibility is over. He congratulated the force for showing positive changes, since the time the training started.

The government of Kenya seems to be reluctant in the dispensation of the new constitution. Speaking today during the second day of the training staged for prison warden from Lodwar GK prisons, the regional coordinator on human rights from the legal resource foundation trust Mr Lenson Njogu, said that they equipping the officers with knowledge, to sustain human rights.
He said that they normally prison officers, police, judiciary, probation department, children department and other actors in the administration of justice. Njogu said that their partnership with other gate keepers like peace and justice catholic of kitale, diocese of lodwar, Christ the king kibera, kituo cha sheria and independent medical unit, has yeild some fruits in their working.
He said that they started training in 2003 after carrying the research and found that the police were leading in violation of human rights by 78% and followed by the prisons by 16%. However he added that during the recent research there was an improvement in the prisons department which dropped to 3% than the police which is still at 72%.
Mr. Njogu said that they have been training the police in Isabania, Meru, Nairobi, Embu, Machakos and later to Kiambu, Nyeri and Marsabit. He added that they targeting officers working in the crime office and investigating officers.

The resent statistics carried by world vision, have shown that Turkana North district is leading in malnutrition cases. Giving the report today to the partners, the national nutrition officer world vision Kenya Mr. Daniel Muhinja said that this is caused by poor dieting.
Launching the training of the officers that will initiate a pro gramme called blanket supplementary pro-gramme, which is scheduled to take place between August and December, he said that other districts as well are affected. Mr. Muhinja said they are targeting pregnant women, children aged between 0-3yrs and lactating mothers all over the county. He said that the project has an aim of reducing the cases of infection related to malnutrition in the region. Other districts affected include Turkana central and Loima districts which have 24.4%, Turkana south has 33.7%. The training which held today at st. Augustine's cathedral hall brings together partners from merlin, IRC, world vision and the diocese of lodwar.

Justice and peace and child protection offices early today visited Nakwamunyen area in response to a Court Users forum directions that the community may not be accessed to Justice and other essential basic needs as implied by a case the institution had handled earlier on in Lodwar Law court. The fact finding team was accompanied by Margaret Lomosingo chief Township, chief Robert Ikoel of Nakwamunyen who was the host, child protection officer Diocese of Lodwar,Mrs. Eunice Majuma, Radio Akicha reporter and other opinion leaders that were found on the ground.
The team found that the population of the area is 950 people while the whole sub location has total population of 10,000 courtesy of the last census results of 2009. The community of Nakwamunyen practice nomadic pastoral ism, and their other sources of livelihood is charcoal burning, sale of firewood and most of them depend on relief Aid.
The area has one classroom for early Childhood Education (ECD) that has only 200 children with one volunteer teacher who is untrained. Health facilities are not there, this forces them to seek Medical Services from Lodwar a distance of 25kms. The area is insecure with many cases of crimes frequently reported ranging from house breaking, highway Robbery to livestock theft. Human rights and child rights are affected by cultural practice that the people of Nakwamunyen are still rooted in.
The Children Protection office DOL, Justice and peace, medical department, and Radio Akicha have therefore recommended that the Provincial Administration , N.G.Os, faith based organizations, Civic leaders and village elders should take the community through a capacity building Training to open up their minds to improve their living conditions.
The area Chief Mr. Robert Ikoel has also said that he faces many challenges ranging from mobility due the vastness of the area under is jurisdiction that is 7 villages and last one being Lokatul which is over 40 kilometers a way from Nakwamunyen village where he resides. He has asked for team work and unity with many stakeholders to cooperate to improve community policing in the area. He continues to ask the government to send K.P.R officers to improve security in the area and also open it for other developments services such as, Medical Services, Water and Education facilities.

There is need to promote capacity building on the practice of peace and justice in the prisons department. The peace and justice deputy coordinator, diocese of Lodwar Mr. Christopher Losiapat, has said that there has been a lot of complains from the members of the public, about the mistreatment they experience while in prison.
Mr. Losiapat said that the training will also enable the department of peace and justice from the diocese to relate well with the GK prison in terms of seeking justice. He said that his department has been training members of the public and other stake holders, in the previous trainings in order to equip them with knowledge on the new constitution.
During the training, the facilitators Mr. Lenson Njogu and Mary Airo both from legal resource foundation trust, insisted on the importance of good relationship between the prison officers and the in mates. The training which brings together 24 prison officers from Lodwar GK prison started today 24th and will end on 26th of August.

He said that the word of God helps leaders and all in various authorities to see where they have gone wrong in their responsibilities, of representing others in this vast county.
The priest advised the faithfuls to stand up as one family and be counted in the development of the county and not point fingers on what others do without giving the way forward. He asked the faithfuls to play their part and in that they will have the guts of challenging others to improve where they have gone wrong. Fr. Ekalimon said that God the father is so rich and gives them his riches without discrimination and that they should not grab these riches from others and leave them poor. The District Civil Registrar Mr. Joseph Orata has urged the Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs in Turkana Central to put more emphasis on the Current Birth Registration instead of relying on village elders for the deaths registration. Speaking in a workshop organized by World Vision, at Golden Guest House Lodwar, Mr. Orata said the chiefs need to be clear with the information they offer in the documents before submission to his office.
The 19 Chiefs and Assistants Chiefs drawn from Turkana Central were encouraged to put more emphasis on the Current Birth Registration instead of relying on village elders for the deaths registration which he said need to be accompanied by the professional documents. Mr. Orata said that their interest is to register the Births and issue Birth notifications in their areas of operations.
The officer encouraged the Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs to Submit their returns in person to avoid inconveniences which can lead to delay of reports. He also congratulated the chiefs and the Assistant Chiefs for their hard work and urged them to continue serving people with good hearts.
The World Vision Child protection officer Mr. Musa Bwino encouraged the participants to ensure that no child born in Turkana county is denied the fundamental right of birth registration. The participants will undertake their field visits in the two Locations of Kalokol and Kerio on 18th August 2011 to sample villages to register the children in an exercise conducted by the civil registrar, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs facilitated by the World vision Child protection Office in Lodwar.

The magistrate said this when Addressing the committee members at St. Teresa's Pastoral Centre today.
Court Users Committee meeting is a forum where the various stakeholders organized by the Justice and peace Programme co-coordinator Mr. James Ekai enables the Judiciary, children's department, probation department, Children Department - Diocese of Lodwar, OCS, OCPD, Provincial Administration, Business persons, Radio Akicha, Hosanna Fm stations are members.
Mr. Nzioki highlighted Insecurity issues rising in the streets due to the influx on street children which prompted the committee to set another sub-committee which was tasked on spearheading the issues of children rescue home in the county. The education facilities in Nakwamunyen village have not been put in use since the building was constructed. The committee signed Some members to follow up the issue and help the children in the area.

The boda boda association has overturn the allegations that were given by some operators that they are going to carry the elections soon. Speaking today in his officer, the association's technical adviser Mr. Jones Alemu said that the association has its own constitution that gives them direction to conduct the elections in February next.
Alemu who was reacting to the information that was heard in some of the FM station today, said that some of the operators who seemed to be manipulated to push the same, are not the officially registered members of the association. Giving the sermon of the day, his lordship said that God loves those people who are brought in a poor life. He urged the community to join hands and give give generously to facilitate the running of the institution, since God loves all those who give generously. The bishop challenged the celebrants that non of those children was willing to be found in that Centre.
At the same time, the coordinator of the Centre brother Hans Wennekess said that the Centre is faced by many challenges, including increase in the number of enrollment and increase in food prices. He noted that the Centre has nurtured more than 12,200 children since its establishment in 1991 and the current enrollment is 351 both from non school going up to the university.
However he thanked Terre Des homes Netherlands for the continued support it is offering to the Centre. The brother called for the government to step in and give support to care for the increasing number.

The secretariat of the Diocese of Lodwar were informed to talk with God about God in a mass that was celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich in an event that also marked his saint day early today. His lordship was accompanied by the Vicar general Fr. Joseph Ekalimon encouraged the staff to Love and commit themselves to God.
His lordship said that God wants all people to fear and love him. He added that God expects all to serve him with all their heart and soul by honoring his name and respecting the sabbath. The staff were urged to be focused in their plans and do things that please God like reciting prayers before starting work for this makes the work they do a prayer in itself to God.
He encouraged the staff to receive the holy communion when prepared so as not to receive their own Judgments for not being worthy. He warned them not to involve themselves in superstitions for they would not be loving God by doing that practice. He also encouraged them to be fulfilling the promises they make to God by respecting the name of God and obeying the Ten commandments. His lordship urged the staff to be punctual in attending mass and be united to God the further then and forever and not let anything interfere with their commitment to worship God.

The district commissioner for Turkana central Mr. Humphrey Nakitare, has called for other well wishers to come and support other organizations like equity, in providing scholarships to needy children in the region. Speaking yesterday at Moi gardens, the DC said that the needs a lot of support in order to boost the level of education.
He urged all the sponsored students to work hard in their studies and ensure that they change, the status of the people in this region. Nakitare said that it is better to work while knowing where you came from and where you are heading.
At the same time, the CEO for equity bank Dr. James Mwangi, said that equity bank will continue to support education in the country, through offering scholarship to the clever and needy children every year. He said that this year only, equity is sponsoring 15 students both in secondary and university all over Turkana county.
On famine, Dr. Mwangi said that equity as a bank contributed more than 20m towards the fight against hunger in this region.

He gave examples of many instances when Christ wanted to make very important decisions and went on a hill alone to pray. Fr. Koro thus encouraged the faithfuls to give themselves time alone to communicate to God their creator in silence. Since God is always found in a serene place, then the faithfuls were encouraged to seek him and he will help them. The priest added that Christ is not found in noisy places, places of troubles, but comes to help them fast when they will call on his name when in problems to help them just like Peter, He urged them to call him and he will help them walk on water.
Fr. Koro warned the faithfuls to be not like the people I todays readings that knew christ but denied that he is the Saviour. He urged them to witness him always in their day to day lives and they will resist temptations. He also added that the moment one loses faith he falls into temptations. He encouraged them not to fear for Christ is with them till the end of the world. He also said that Jesus walking on the water showed that he is the creator of everything. He added that Peter sank in water because he doubted. Fr. Koro said that when someone is in doubt then he or she sinks into temptation and thus will fear to come back to face the reality. He gave examples of people who start to miss mass, and as a result become afraid to come back. He added that Peter in the reading asked Christ to hold his hand and Jesus helped him walk on water and they can also call on Christ's name for he is ready to come and help them in their troubles and will enable them walk on troubles. The ordination mass which was celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich, began with a procession of all the priest in attendance to the main dice followed His lordship Dominic Kimengich.
The candidates were brought forward by their Parents and respective sponsors. After the readings his Lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich noted that the ordination was taking place today when the readings on transfiguration on the mountain where Peter and the others saw Jesus shine like the sun. He added that they should know that they are Priests in the sun and asked the new priest to emulate the works of the st. John of Viani the patron of priests.
Priests have publicly sworn to live a life of celibacy in the holy order they will anoint the sick ,forgive sins on behalf of Jesus Christ, then feed the faithful with bread and the word of God . The candidates were asked for the last time if they wanted to join the Holy order of Priest hood, which they agreed and the rights followed.
Bishop Kimengich told them that it was not good enough to be a priest but one should always be a holy priest.
This is the first ordination to be presided over by Bishop Kimengich noting that its less than six months since the newly installed Bishop took office. He particularly thanked the vicar General and every one who took part in the preparation for making the day such a success.
