Parishioners
of St. Augustine Cathedral and those in the outstations have been
asked to stand firm in their faith and not allow themselves be shaken
by the events of the previous week. Lodwar Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev.
Dominic Kimengich told the faithful that they should seek refuge in
God during this difficult moments and their faith in the risen Christ
is all they need to overcome the evil plans of the devil. Bishop
Kimengich advised the Christians to avoid exchanging accusations and
looking for individuals to blame for the sad events that occurred but
instead leave everything to God who is merciful, mighty and the true
shepherd of our lives. Rt. Rev. Kimengich reminded the congregation
during Mass on Ascension Sunday that as Christians they cannot avoid
temptations and persecutions in their every day lives and when faced
with challenges they should not despair but ask God for direction on
what should be the next course of action. He asked the faithful to
especially pray for priests and bishops who are more targeted by the
devil in attempts to break their faith and steadfastness in God. “The
devil is not asleep and he knows that once he succeeds in making a
priest fall then he will manage to lead Christians astray” said Rev
Kimengich.
