LOCAL SPORTS NEWS BY KEN SIMIYU 27.6.2015 Lodwar boy are the champions of this year’s Turkana county inter-schools games.



Lodwar Boys High School are the champions of this year’s school games after they defeated St Leos secondary school of Kakuma in the finals.
The game ended nil nil in the normal then extra time still no team was able to score, the headed into penalty shootout  and Lodwar Boys thrashed St Leos 5 goals to 3.
In girls leg ball St. Kevin secondary school were crowned the champions this after they defeated the defending champions Lodwar Girls 4 goals to 3 in the penalty shootout.
Volley ball Boys Lodwar Boys high school were the winners after they defeated Turkwel three sets to 2 and girls Uhuru girls from Lokichar are the champions after they managed to eliminate Kapedo mixed 3 sets to one in the finals.
The winning teams shall represent Turkana county in the Inter schools  county level games in Busia county next week.
According to defending champion’s captain Lucy Napasi said that they had prepared to represent the county but they were eliminated in the penalties and she urged the rest of the team to take it essy and train for next season.
                             
The captain also wished St Kevin girls well as they are representing the county in this year’s games.

Local news 06/07/2015 By, Ekaale Epakan The county children’s government leadership organized a meet with the governor of Turkana county




The county children’s government leadership structured a meeting morning at the governor’s office in order to carve up with the governor, their manifestos, expectations, challenges and probable solutions they could have to better their schools and Education improvement.
The county children’s government leadership urge the governor to help them to tackle the issues like inclusive learning, health and nutrition, equity and equality, environment safety where they talk of insecurity crisis in their schools.
They also beg if the county government of turkana could allocate at least one Kenya police reserve officer in each school since the problem of insecurity is a sombre that had been affecting our county for many years.
They also talk of their rights that they should also be painstaking and given, predominantly the right of education. They urge the governor to capture their voices.

Local news By ken simiyu 29.6.2015 Governor Nanok commissioned news office of ministry of land.



The ministry of land’s office  was official commissioned by Turkana county governor Hon Josepht Nanok at the old county council compound.
Hon Nanok said that every ministry has allocated with its office and citizen should know where to present their issues.
The office will assist the communities to solve the problems of land as it is the key issues in Turkana county.
The governor also commissioned the new track for collecting cabbages in Lodwar Town to the dumping sight.            
Governor nanaok urged residents to team together with the county government in cleaning exercises.
Hon Nanok also said that the county government will ensure the town is clean as the track shall be moving round the Town to collect the cabbages.

LOCAL NEWS By Ken Simiyu 30.06.2015 Fire outbreak causes disaster and disruption of education at Erait academy



Properties worth thousands of shillings was destroyed at erait academy at fire break out and as a result boys’ dormitory  was  burnt down.
Confirming the incident OCS Lodwar police station Patrick Gogo said the incident  occurred at 11.40 am while the officers were on their regular duty of patrolling in Lodwar town when they were informed and rushed at the scene only to find fire escalating on one of the dormitories.
The officer commanding the station said that the cause of the fire was suspected to be on and off action of electric volts, but contained by a good Samaritan and the efforts of police officers who were there no causalities reported as the fire was duly controlled.
                                
The manager of the school Grace kierie  said that the school remained in a dilemma as parents who came to see their children were allowed to go home with them
                              
The school manage however appreciated the effort of communities and well-wishers who managed to put off the fire. Ocs Patrick Gogo of Lodwar police station said that the cause of the fire was suspected to be on and off  of electricity volts.
Residents urged the county government to purchase at least one fire extinguisher Vehicle to help in such calamites if occurs in the county.
