Local News – 22.09.10 -By Munialo Macquelyne - Human trafficking workshop closed officially
International Organization of Migration (IOM) has today marked an end of its training on Counter Human Trafficking at Nawaitorong' Women Conference Center.
The workshop which was attended by 52 members from all stakeholders and various departments, ended successfully whereby all members who attended the workshop were in a position to identify those people who procure the vice in order to obtain directly or indirectly for financial or material benefit.
The workshop which was organized by IOM being an international body which deals with exploitative forms of irregular migration that violates human rights.
Speaking to Radio Akicha reporter the Chairperson of Turkana Child Protection network Mrs. Phoebe Kaaman had this to say,
The Assistant project officer of Counter Human Trafficking, Mr. David Lukiri urged the participants to revoke the issue of people recruiting either children or adults by threatening, abducting or even using forced labour as away of business for their own financial gain in the society.
