Local news – 12.12.2011 - by Zacheaus otaba - Leave brother Louis alone local leaders tell the government

There was an uproar from the public when their leaders complained of the plan to move brother Louis out from heading st. Kevin's secondary school. Speaking during the Jamhuri celebrations today at Moi gardens, theleaders led by lodwar municipality mayor David Kinyonge, they said that st. Kevin's was started by the catholic church, to cater for children who come from poor families.
The move was supported by the area MP Hon Ekwee Ethuro, who said that those who feel that they reforming education in Turkana, should focus on poor performing schools first. On politics, he called for residents to maintain peace during this time when elections are nearing.
At the same time the district commissioner for Turkana central Mr. Humphrey Nakitare has warned politicians of hate speech, saying that they will face the hand of the law. He said that whoever disrupts the peace of the majority is not going to be tolerated in the society. On relief food the DC said that the food that was set for Turkana is still in Kitale cereals board awaiting transportation, which is facing lack of logistics.
The residence also called for the government to boost security in Lorogon, where ken Gen workers have moved away due to poor security. The leaders also called for the police to play their role in protecting people's lives but not harassing them.
