Local news By ken simiyu 14.6.2015 Turkana County celebrated the day of African child at Lokichar in Turkana south.



The celebration of African children normally held on 16th of June every year where all African continent remembers the day of which Africana children were killed at South Africa for demanding their rights.
Speaking during the celebration Deputy county commission of Turkana south Elija Kodo said that this celebration is very Important especially in Trkana south where every year young girls and boys drop out of School for ealy marriage.
                          
He urged parents to Invest in children and resist early marriages to enable children go to school as they are the leaders of tomorrow .
The incharge of child protection in the Diocese of Lodwar Eunice Majuma said that this year development partners decided to stage the function in Turkana south because of the highst cases of early marriages and urged parents to participate in fighting against the early marriage and the theme of this year is stop child early marriages.
                         
The  guest of honor was aclass eight pupil from Angorabat primary school of Turkana south Sylvester Loruka who singled out the challenges that led into early marriages as poverty  ,Illiteracy, ignorance from some of the parents ,pear pressure and many other vices in the African society.
                
The development partners who made the day to successful were Dioceses of Lodwar through the depertment of child protection, World vision Kainuk,save the children, IRC, Child fund Kenya, SAPCONE, Mission of hope, Tumain CBO of Kanamkemer county government and National government.

Local news By ken simiyu 11.6.2015 Turkana county government paid a penalty of 28 goats and ksh 15,000 to Ugandan government.



A Peace meeting that involved three communities Turkana, Tepeth and Karamoja from Uganda was held at Lomokori in loima the border of Uganda and Turkana Kenya.
 The council of Elders from the three communities held a meeting to perform traditional ceremony of burnt offerings to cleanse the blood of the innocent killings. This meeting was held after two business men from Uganda were killed by the suspected gunmen from Turkana County.
                           
 Turkana county peace Ambassador Emmanuel Imana, said that paying the fine meant to restore relationship between the two countries and added that the county has decided to pay the penalty on behalf of the Turkana community so as to end conflict between the bordering communities.
          
The chairman of peace from Moroto Mr Paul Musoka after the meeting said that the ceremony which was witnessed by the elders from the three communities is a clear indication that the communities are ready to build peace and that the affected families received 28 goats and 15 thousand shillings.
                        

Turkana and Pokot communities on the southern borders can now have asleep.




Since governors from four counties started moving and preaching peace along the borders of conflict communities.Turkana communities of Lorogon,Loyapat,Nakwamoru,Turkwel Lokiriama, Lorengip,Kaputir,Katilu, Kalemongorok, Kakong and Kainuk have involved inpeace initiatives with the communities of Pokot from Ombilion,Kasese, Takaywa, Kaarun and those who live at Turkwel gouge and now people are happily staying together as brothers and sisters.
According to chief Joseph siwa of  village in Pokot county said that freedom of movement between the two communities for the first time has been seen and hope this time round all communities are serious.                     
   
Chief of Lorogon has appreciated MCA of kaputir for his effort of ensuring these two communities are together, Deputy county commissioner of Pokot west          said that the joint effort of security forceses has joined hands together with elder leaders from the two communities to ensure peace is restored.
                          
MCA  of Kaputir  has appreciated the two communities for coming together and now appeals for the government to raise funds for Agricultural to enable them start they old system of farming. Games have been organized by dc from Pokot and Turkana county on Friday and it will be held at Turkwel where the two communities will participate and mainly the worrious  there after on 27th this month cultural event to be held at Lorogon.

LOCAL NEWS BY KEN SIMIYU 12.6.2015. Save the children today staged citizens hearing forum at lodwar mixed primary school.


The forum was to give citizens chance to face their leaders by asking them questions and givin their views on county government since devolution.
Representatives from ministry of health Education and other line ministries in the count government .speaking during the forum save the children representatives mr.Eric Oyoo said that their objectives are to organize forums that enables citizens to ask their leaders the urning issues which they fill the county government have not done and it as in their manifestoes
Mr. Oyoo added that citizen hearing is a room to know what the county leaders have done and where they also fill they can correct to allow the county government work for  them and develop turkana county.
Some of the  questions were asked by the vice president of children’s parliament from lodwar mixed primary school Terry Epakan who asked the representatives of education the plans they have to save the younger children who come to school because of feeding program to retain them in School.
                                          
Deputy county director of sports representing Education sector had thus to answer. In Agricultural sectors which seemed to be facing a lot of challenges the chairman of Morelem  irrigation scheme  mr Philp Esinyen requested the county government to construct a warehouse to enable them find  for the market to sell their products.
