Local news By ken simiyu 10.6.2015 Turkana Drivers Associations wants commercial vehicles to move to mikeka ground.



The congestion of Lodwar Town has made Turkana Drivers Association to create parking Space at Mikeka ground for the 4 by 4 Vehicles which transports passengers to Kitale. 

Speaking today at Mikeka ground Chairman of Turkana Drivers Association Mr Maxwell Ekamar said that the Vehicles parking opposite Bismilahi and near Njoria Traders should be moved to create space for Pedestrians and BodaBoda operations as the vehicles are normally parked on the road and drainage system and they have issued the letters to the owners of the 4 by 4 vehicles to move at mikeka ground.

On the other hand Lodwar Town Administrator Mr David Edoket said that the movement is not permanent but just for while as the county government is constructing the parking stages at the market place.

 Reacting on the letter one of the Lodwar classic Tours and safaris Mr Michael Njaki said that the ideas of moving to mikeka ground is not suppose to be from Turkana Drivers association but the county government where they pay their tax revenue every day.

 Also on the same matter the vice chairman of matatu association Mr Mohammed Musa Kirengo said that they will not join the Association and to move at Mikeka ground means that they are ready to join Turkana Drivers Association.The idea of the Association was to create space in Lodwar Town and enables smooth movement.
