LOCAL NEWS – 11.4.11 - By Mary Tioko - People have two bags, one in front the other at back
Every person has two bags, one in front and the other at the back said Fr. Geoffrey Nakutan as he celebrated the holy mass for Diocesan staff at St. Thomas Chapel. The priest said that the front bag constantly sees his/her faults and the back one does not. Fr. Nakutan mentioned that in history wise people said this statement which according to him is very relevant to the days gospel on the Judgment of the adulterers woman . He Quoted the gospel which said that let one who is guiltless be the first to throw the stone.
Fr. Nakutan said that when Jesus asked the people who have not sinned to be the first to throw the first stone to the woman, people started retreated starting from the old to the least. Fr. Nakutan said that the old were thought to be mature and wise and were to be making wise Judgments. He said that the old should examine themselves so as not to throw stones when making judgments. He informed the faithfuls that every negative word said about the person is a prayer to the devil. The priest asked the faithfuls to give other people chances in life to change.
The priest asked the faithfuls why they want to take the splinter in their brothers eyes and forget the logs in their own eyes? He told them to think for the best of others which is easy to say than done. He said that their mind is set in such a manner that they think negatively about other people, they see the defects they magnify them and get shocked. He encouraged all to pray so that they can change their mentality of being judgmental to away they can help others to give them a second chance. He added that persons are capable of changing for the better.
