LOCAL NEWS – 14.04.2011 - By Zacheaus Otaba - The DC tells the VMMC task force to Use a punchy approach towards exercise.
The voluntary medical male circumcision task force was launched today at st. Teresa's pastoral center. Speaking during the launch, the district commissioner for Loima district Mr. Moses Ivuto, said that approaches used to advocate for VMMC should be convincing enough. He noted that the introduction of any new aspect always is faced by resistance. However he said that by today, more that 600 people have been circumcised, therefore he encouraged people to respond positively. At the same time, the medical officer of health for Turkana central Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel, insisted that VMMC should go and proper gate the right information about the exercise. He said that those turning up will have a full package that guarantees their health safety. However he called for support from the community to assist in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases. The task force will be starting its work in the grass roots officially from today onwards. VMMC will be rolled on officially soon.
