Local news - 1.6.11 - By Mary Tioko - Memory Mass of late Fr. Robert Bob McCabe at St. Thomas Chapel.

Memory Mass for the late Fr. Robert Bob McCabe was conducted at St. Thomas Chapel today Morning. As Kenyans celebrated the Madaraka day, the Diocesan fraternity converged at St. Thomas Chapel to pray and commemorate the life of late Doctor and priest Robert McCabe. The late died when undergoing treatment at Dublin Ireland on 28th May 2011. Fr. John O' Callaghan who was telling the Christians and priests present history of Maccabe said that he was a professional doctor and a good priest who was dedicated to his work. Fr. Callaghan said that Fr. Bob worked in Zimbabwe before he came to Kenya to specialize in medicine. The late Doctor McCabe wass appreciated for his treatment of special diseases in Lokitaung and Northern Turkana. He was also scientist and lecturer of medicine since during his life he went to lecture at university in Dublin every summer.
The late Fr. McCabe has worked in lokitaung for ten years and was a darling of many in his medicine and priestly work. He was a principled person in his work. He was also world Tennis champion player during his time. He published a book called desert Nomads. Fr. John said that the late was a gentleman who loved God very much for he showed his love in works of charity in Northern Turkana. His lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich urged tall present to continue the work of the late. Bishop Kimengich also prayed to God the almighty to increase priestly vocation in the Diocese and thanked the lord for the gift of life of McCabe and believed that the lord who called him will reward him. His lordship took the opportunity to thank all who came to mass despite the short notice .He also noted the unity of the secretariat which makes them strong in their work.
May the soul of McCabe rest in eternal peace! AMEN!
