The girl child education workshop was today held at Comboni Girls Primary School at Risen Christ Parish Lodwar. This workshop was organised by community mobilisers of Nakwamekwei Parish and facilitated by Mr. Robert Woods who is working as a counsellor with Lodwar Youth Friendly VCT Services at Bishop Mahon's Centre. The participants of the workshop were 25 girls drawn from Nakwamekwei village. The objectives of the workshop were to enable the girls have knowledge on sex education, responsibility as a girl in the community, and change in the community and in their respective homes. The workshop also was to raise awareness on abortion types and effects to the person who does it, early marriages, and drug abuse/alcoholic and above all peer pressure among the youth. This all was to be tackled in this three day workshop which is sort to empower the girls in Risen Christ Nakwamekwei Parish.
