Christians
of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish have been asked to forever be
vigilant and lead spiritually upright lives in accordance with the
dictates of God's commandments.
Lodwar
Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich told the faithful to always examine
their conscience and respond to the inner voice through which God
commands them to do what is right always in their spiritual and
physical lives. In his homily on the 19th Sunday in
ordinary time of the Church calendar, Bishop Kimengich challenged the
congregation to demonstrate their faith as Christians by going beyond
being mere disciples and instead become apostles.
The Rt. Rev.
Kimengich said Christians should be ready to rise above the
satisfaction of being baptized and attending church services and be
ready to be sent out to evangelize.
He said our
faith is supreme and should be comparable to the faith demonstrated
by Abraham who was commanded to go to a foreign land to posses it and
obeyed without questioning God's intentions.Bishop Kimengich asked
Christians to conduct themselves with good character that is beyond
reproach and avoid leading a life of double standards.“Christians
should stop having one foot in the materialistic world and another on
the spiritual path that leads to heavenly kingdom and added that they
receive Holy Communion on Sunday in one hand while on Monday when
they go to their work places they receive bribes with the other
hand”. Rt Rev Kimengich said they should not be like the hyena
whose desire to have everything led him to perish.
