Local news – 28.11.10 - By Mary Tioko - Advent: “A wonderful gift to all of us

The Christians community of St. Augustine's Cathedral parish were today reminded of the first and second coming of our lord Jesus Christ. Speaking during his homily Bishop Patrick Harrington said that Christians are optimistic on the coming of Christ and always remain waiting for they do not know the hour or the day when he comes.
His lordship added that faithfuls have to put things right with God and with one another in this season, for God is a merciful God who is always ready to bring us back to him just like the prodigal son who returned to his father and was received. He said that when we put things right Christ will welcome us to his kingdom and all of us are called to try .
Bishop Patrick said that advent is a time of reflection, repentance and reconciliation. His lordship urged the Christian community to prepare for this special occasion just like they always prepare for big events in their lives to do so for the coming of Jesus Christ. He said that the church invites all of us to reflect on where we are and where we are coming from and also going.
The Christians were encouraged to reflect on their lives and Clean away all the rubbish and dust and put their minds and souls clean and ready awaiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. His lordship also said that It is wonderful that we have been given the time to prepare ourselves, follow Jesus and we are all invited now to prepare the way and give ourselves times to reflect on his teachings.
