Following the operation that
started on 4th 0f September on the Illegal brew and motor cycles today the boda
boda cyclist decided to riot after their mission of wanting to talk to the
Governor did not succeeded.More than five hundred youths blocked the Road at
Kanamkemer bridge at the same time lite the fire which caused the Traffic jam
for more than six hours.The police
officers from Lodwar Police station appeared at the scene to rescue the
situation but the angry boda bodas stated to throw stones on the officers which forced the county leaders led
by Governor Turkana County Josephat
Nanok, deputy Governor Peter Ekai Lokoel and some members of the county
Assembly to intervene in the matter .On
reaching to the police station the youths again decided to storm the police
station which forced the officers to use tear gas so as to disperse the crowd. Speaking
after a short discussion with the OCPD
Lodwar Lawrence Mwaura, in the OCS office the county Governor said that they have talked to the ocpd and
those who were arrested were released on the free bond also the Motor cycles
were released.
The governor added that tomorrow
they will have meeting with the Boda boda association leaders at the governor's
office at 10.00am to discuss on the issue.
