The Diocese of Lodwar Communications Department, today marked the world communication day by holding various activities. One of them was to launch Radio Akicha's Blog on the Internet that will help to link fans and enable people around the world to link up with the station in order to know what is going on in Lodwar and its surroundings. e the selling of books and an “open door day” where Radio Akicha fans were allowed to visit the station, ask questions and air their greetings live.

Addressing those who had visited the station, the Station Manager, Mary Tioko, said this radio was a community radio whose main objective was to evangelise, inform, educate and entertain the community, and asked them to be part of the radio and give their comments to improve the station.

She thanked the staff for their devotion and dedication saying that communication was a powerful tool which, if used well, could help change the lives of many and if used wrongly could destroy.

The launching of the Blog was done by Daniel Edaan on behalf of the station Director, Fr. Angel Valdivia and other members of the staff, while taking visitors around the station was done by the Station Manager.

Akicha Radio was started by the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar in January 2009 and since then it has been serving Lodwar community and the surrounding area. However plans are at an advanced stage to expand the coverage so as to reach more people.
