National News – 19.05.2010 - A TWO HEADED LAMB. By DANIEL EDAAN.

A two-headed lamb has been born in Nanyang'akipi village, in Nakwamekwi Sub-Location, Turkana Central Division.

The bizarre incident that surprised to residents who thronged Elizabeth Ekai's home was the first to be witnessed in the village that lies on the outskirts of Lodwar town. The lamb died a few minutes after its birth.

The owner of the ewe that gave birth to the two-headed lamb, Elizabeth Ekai, said that she had expected a healthy lamb but regretted what happened saying that perhaps the bad omen would have befallen one member of the family but passed over them through the lamb.

Talking to us over the phone, the District Veterinary Officer, Dr. George Omore, admitted that the incident was not a normal thing, but ruled out it being a sign of bad omen to the family. He said it purely malfunction during the gestation period, when the process of the egg diving itself into twin lambs was not completed.

Mrs. Ekai appealed to the Government to take away the two headed lamp for research or preservation in the museum.
