LOCAL NEWS - 3RD MAY 2010 - PARENTS RUSH FOR SHOPPING AS SCHOOLS OPEN. By Emmanuel A. Ekuwom.

Most of the parents rushed to do shopping for their children as schools opened their doors to the new term. Also as we walked around Lodwar town we could see some of the pupils do their shopping as they prepared to go back to school. Speaking to us the owner of mali mali traders in Lodwar town, Jackson Mukundi, said this was good time for business when they make good sales. He added that whenever schools are about to open, they stock their shops in anticipation of good business.

Other shops like Kilimanjaro mini market, Naipa supermarket, barber shops and Joria Trades were also busy attending to their customers, especially pupils. However the problem of the damaged Lodwar-Kitale Highway has been a big thorn in their flesh. Mr. Nyakundi says that there have been delays in delivery of goods and cost of transporting them have been high.
