The Christian faithfuls of St. Augustine were today celebrated the feast of christ the king. The colourful celebration was led by the sacred heart group and all the christians participated actively. The assistant priest of St. Augustine Cathedral parish Fr. Simon Mutai informed the faithfuls during his homily that Christ was humble and needed us as his followers to be humble.
Fr. Mutai said that the kingdom of God is not compared with the earthly leadership where people aspire to be political leaders, some want authority, power and a mighty person who can command authority and the one who will conquer the enemies when war ensues but his kingdom is everlasting one and cannot end like earthly kingdom. The priest said that Christians have a king who is Jesus Christ, who is a mighty king who prayers for us to overcome temptations of the world. Fr. Mutai also said that when one is baptized he /she joins the kingdom of God where love, unity , forgiveness and peace reigns which is the opposite of the earthly kingdom which is a corrupt kingdom.
Fr. Mutai urged the faithfuls to make sacrifice in order to inherit the kingdom since Christ also suffered .The priest also called upon the Christians to guard their faith against the devil in order to evangelize the word of God ,a above all the priest urged the Christians to humble themselves before Christ in order to be uplifted just as Christ was uplifted in his humility. Fr. Mutai said that in the kingdom of God there is no pride . Christ fought for the kingdom and overcame death and Christians also shall overcome death. He called upon the Christians to be coming to church to adore Christ in the tabernacle so as to glorify him who is our king.
