LOCAL NEWS -06.03.2011 - By Zacheaus Otaba -Leaders in turkana county formalized on devolution of county government
Leaders in Turkana county today underwent a one day workshop at st Teresa pastoral center, on the devolution of powers and resources to the counties, when it comes to effect.
The workshop which was sponsored by Oxfam, was facilitated by MR. kawive wambua, the executive secretary constitution and reform education consortium. Speak in the center, Mr. wambua said that the people of Turkana county today were making proposals on how their counties should be run.
However, wambua said that the exercise has been carried nicely and a small committee of six people was formed to scrutinize the proposals which will be presented to the tusk force devolution by the ministry of local government. The work shop was attended by more than 30 members representing different NGOs, CBOs, government sectors and private sector. The tusk force will be visiting turkana county on Wednesday 9th of may, where it will collect the views of the people of Turkana at the county council hall starting from 8.30am.
