The Lodwar municipal market which has been long awaited for its completion, will be complete in three months time. The municipality's administration officer Mr. James Ekanyuk said that by now, there is too little to done for its completion.
Speaking in his office today, Mr. Ekanyuk said that once the market is complete, all hawkers in town center will be moved to the market, to reduce congestion. He said that the plots will be allocated with priority, therefore people have to pick forms from municipal office and apply for it before that time.
About street lighting Ekanyuk revealed that the japan embassy has promised ksh. 19M for Lodwar town street lighting which he said will start soon. However the officer added that, their requisition for street lighting in town from Kenya power and lighting has not been answered, hence making the council have difficulties in its planning.
On the town cleanliness, the officer admitted that it is not up to date, though they have employed a contractor to in charge of town cleaning. He promised that the municipality is going to have a close supervision, to ensure that the work is perfectly done.
