Local news – 21.8.11 - By Mary Tioko - Choose focused leaders in 2012

The Vicar General of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish Fr. Joseph Ekalimon today during mass told the faithfuls of St. Augustine's Parish to elect leaders who have the interest of people at their hearts in 2012 elections. Fr. Ekalimon said that the leadership of Turkana County is unstable and problems are experienced everywhere in both economic and social aspects and the community is crying everywhere!
Fr. Ekalimon mentioned that he has been getting many challenges as he goes ahead with his pastoral work in within the parish outstations where people behave as if they don't have leaders who address there needs? He said that the word of God helps leaders and all in various authorities to see where they have gone wrong in their responsibilities, of representing others in this vast county.
The priest advised the faithfuls to stand up as one family and be counted in the development of the county and not point fingers on what others do without giving the way forward. He asked the faithfuls to play their part and in that they will have the guts of challenging others to improve where they have gone wrong. Fr. Ekalimon said that God the father is so rich and gives them his riches without discrimination and that they should not grab these riches from others and leave them poor. He also added that authority has no meaning if it does not help others and thus asked them to stretch out and help others who are in need in their county and Kenyans in general. He thus urged the faithfuls to be witnesses of Christ and stand firm by the voice of God. He also challenged the faithfuls to have positive thinking and give right directions in all that happens in the County.
