Local news – 2.8.11 - By Mary Tioko - Be contented in what you have, Bishop says

The secretariat of the catholic Diocese of Lodwar were urged to be contented in what they have and not complain. His lordship said this when celebrating Mass at St. Thomas Chapel yesterday. He said that selfishness destroys people and makes them suffer, he added that people can even deny possession which is disastrous to them.
His lordship challenged the staff to be more generous. He asked them to think of times they have cheated people and denied them needs and even services! He said that cheating is deeply rooted in people and thus informed them to change and treat others as they would like them to treat them. He encouraged them to give what they have since God himself knows and will bless them. He urged the staff to appreciate what God has given them and learn to say thanks to his holy name. He also encouraged them share the little they have since God can multiply like the two fish and five loaves.
Bishop Dominic told them that the lord was asking them to be more generous in their lives and urged them to count in the lord for he can perform miracles in their lives. He warned them not to think a bout themselves so as to experience the generosity of their lord. He also challenged them to learn to give by starting with the church offerings. His lordship urged them to ask the lord for the gift of generosity which can be seen in many things which they can do like even committing their time, being sincere, and honest and God will bless them . He said that the desire to have more and more is not good and urged them to be contented with what they have and do the right things always. He also warned them to keep off from what is not theirs for it will be a curse to them.
The vicar general Fr. Joseph Ekalimon who accompanied the bishop also added that people have the energy in them although comparison makes them different from each other. He informed them that all people are created in the image and likeness of God and need to be satisfied with what you have. He added that, God has given them beauty in their own reality. He thus urged to be responsible and help one another in all aspects.
