The department of children's services under the minstry of gender, children and social development held a three day training at lodwar logde concerning children's rights.
Addressing the participants the Provincial Director of Children's Services Rift Valley Province Mr.Yusuf Abdi Sheikh said that, children should have rights to be protected from drugs, torture and given privacy. Mr.Yusuf said that all parents should be responsible in whatever their children do. He added that children should live in a society where they become responsible citizens through fulfilments of their prescribed rights and welfare.
He further said that, their mission is to safeguard the rights and welfare of all children through implimentation of relevant policies, co-ordination, supervision and delivery of services
Mr.Yusuf added that the objectives of the department is to make sure that all children between the age of 6-17 should be enrolled to school while those ones under 5 years to be immunized so as to reduce mortality and morbidity rates and to make sure that the caregivers obtain birth certificates for the children, death certificates for the diceased parents and national identity cards.
