LOCAL NEWS – 08.04.2011- By Zacheaus Otaba - One sent inn for seven years by the Lodwar court today.

A man has been sent inn for seven years for stealing and possessing a G3 riffle and rounds of ammunitions. John Ekwam was found guilty of stealing a G3 riffle and 20 rounds of ammunitions from the house the Kenya police reserve, David Ekamais from Kanamkemer in Turkana central district, Turkana county.
The court was informed that the incident on 5th and 6th of April and the suspect was arrested at Nameyana village in Turkana county having used one ammunition. The Lodwar resident magistrate Thomas Nzyoki found the suspect with three charges of stealing property, being in possession of a riffle without certificate and being in possession of round of ammunitions without license.
Defending himself, Ekwam asked the court to forgive him since he didn't know that the riffle was for government. The magistrate overturned the offer, and sent him inn for seven years without bail according to stealing clause 275 of the penal code.
