LOCAL NEWS - 20.04.2011 - By Zacheaus Otaba - Kenya children Assembly finalizes elections at st. Luke's home for the deaf.


The Kenya children assembly has been taking place at St. Luke's home for the deaf for the last three days and finally has winded up with the county delegates elections. The district children's officer for Turkana central Mr. Sammy Korir said that the children representation was fairly distributed, from all over the county. He said that they conducted elections in line with the new constitution, where by every county needs to have the children's Assembly. Korir added that the election that was carried shows that the needs and views of the minors will be channeled through the right way. He said that the elections were carried fairly and with dignity of gender sensitive. Else where the coordinator st. Luke's home for the Deaf, Mrs Eunice Majuma congratulated the children for showing a lot of integrity for the time they have been to the center. She said that it was a clear show that the children have a true picture of their rights. Added that the children representatives will have a collective responsibility to sensitize other children on their rights. During his closing remarks, Mr. Korir said that they will be holding such like meetings, during every holidays to propel the working of the children county delegates.
