LOCAL NEWS -13.04.2011 - By Zacheaus Otaba - Cyclists warned of breaking traffic rules


The Lodwar bodaboda operators today had a meeting at the cereals board field to highlight the challenges that have been facing them and announcing new rules for all operators. Speaking during the meeting, the association's chair man Mr. William Ewoi said that, they are willing to cooperate with the police took all those tat break the rules laid down. This takes place one day after unexperienced caused an accident last night where a passenger sustain minor injuries and the boy made away leaving the motorcycle. Ewoi said that there is tendency of either experienced drivers or cycle owners to give motorcycles to school boys who are now on holidays, which has contributed to the increase of accidents. He warned that they may face punishment. He called for the police not to harass the operators since they are ready for dialogue. However he noted that they are going to proper-gate good relationship between, the operators, the police and members of the public by assisting to arrest law breakers. He said that this will promote trust and the good name of the association, insisting that every operator should responsible in their service provision. He called for members abide with traffic rules by making sure they have boots, helmet and reflectors for their safety in roads.
