Farmers at the banks of River Turkwel have expressed hope in the new year that it might bring change to their farms and help them succumbed all the challenges faced in the year 2010 as now most pastoralists living along the river banks have turned into agriculture.
Speaking to Akicha reporter at the shores of River Turkwel, one of the farmers Achapan lochampa who has been in the farming activity for more than 20 years said that, she has not achieved much interms of produce since she ventured into farming.
Achapan said that, they are faced with a variety of problems including fetching water each morning from the river to water their farms, which leaves them tired and exosted. She called upon well wishers to help them purchase ploughing equipments and the generator that will enable them plant enough food in the area.
In her cries Achapan called upon the Government and Non-Governmental Organization to help them support irrigation in Turkana county in order to minimize the pangs of hunger and to make them become self reliant in food production.

The residents of Napetet village today were assembled in a Chief Baraza organized by the area chief where various issues were raised. In his speech Chief Patrick Lorogoi said that Demarcation of plots is necessary in order to settle arising problems concerning land.
The chief advised the plot owners to follow the land policies of leaving a meter between two plots for accessibility so as to a rest arising emergencies like fire outbreaks and diseases. Chief Lorogoi also warned those still not following alcohol rules to do so or else face the consequences of law.
He also said that those who sell alcohol must get licenses and abide by the new rules laid down by Nacada concerning Alcohol. He warned those who sell alcohol not to do it in odd hours as from 10 o'clock and beyond. The chief also encouraged parents to mobilize their children to join the various schools within the Turkana county and any child found loitering the streets as from Monday the 10th January 2011 will be arrested by police.

30 Infants received in St. Augustine's Cathedral parish in the sacrament of Baptism today.
The Christian faithfuls of St. Augustine's Cathedral parish today received 30 infants in their Christian community. The infants who were baptized in the masses received the holy spirit and cleansing from their original sins.
The day which is also the day for the baptism of Jesus made the children to receive the holy spirit which will strengthen them in their faith. The assistant priest of St. Augustine's Cathedral parish Fr. Simon Mutai when baptizing the children instructed their parents and God Parents to bring these children up in faith and always bring them to mass.
Fr. Mutai said that Jesus was Baptized by John because he loved him and prepared his way and thus the parents and God parents have to prepare the way for these children in love. Father Simon went ahead reminding people of the biggest commandments of loving our God with all our hearts and minds and also loving our neighbor as ourselves.
Fr. Mutai in his homily said that Jesus came to save us from sins and enable us to be worthy to inherit the kingdom of God and also through his baptism , we come to know that he is really the son of God. The priest said that Everything Jesus does comes from God the father and that his baptism was proactive one where after his baptism he started his work. Fr. Mutai challenged Christians to do the work of evangelisation because they received the power of Christ in their baptism.
Elsewhere Fr. Cosmas Longor encouraged the Christians of st. Michaels Napetet to follow the example of Jesus who was prepared in advance by John the baptist. The colorful mass which was organized by St. Martin small Christian community under the leadership of Catechist Philemon Lokol challenged all Christians to emulate the example of Christ in their lives. Fr. Longor also baptized infants in the mass and encouraged the faithfuls to be strong in their faith and guard it well in order to overcome evil.

The parish priest of Risen Christ Nakwamekwei Fr. Raphael Cephalo challenged the Christian today in mass that baptism is not enough in the Christian faith but also Christian related actions.
Fr. Cephalo in his homily asked the Christians to pray for southern Sudan as they start their voting for the referendum today and will last for a week. He said the Christian missionary who had worked in Sudan experienced some challenges and thus need their prayers.
The priest encouraged the Christians to emulate the life of Jesus Christ who accepted to be baptized with sinners and he never excluded himself from others and also said that the fact that Jesus was born from a humble background makes him know our problem more and Christian should look unto him for help.
Fr. Cephalo challenged the Christians to stand by the first decision they made during the baptism when they accepted to follow Jesus Christ in there personal life and said that baptism is the beginning of a journey. He said Christian should be prepared for Christian life and encouraged them to grow physically at the same time spiritually. As the new year begins the residents of loyo nataparkakono and nakamekwi are very optimistic that the new year is going to end there water problem they experienced in the year 2010
Speaking to Akicha reporter in Nataparkakono village Mrs. Paulina Ebei expressed her joy on the new plan that is going on in the water distribution across the Nataparkakono area and other neighbouring villages affected by the same water problem for long.
Mrs. Paulina Ebei said that the long distances traveled by the women an children in search of water will soon end and and more time will be used looking for other things than water as it used to be. She also said that the local pump had salty water which was not very much tasty for the residents and now will be relieved by cool water.

obligation of monitoring the child from the moment they go school and even try to follow up the performance of the child because a child needs a parents support teachers support and also personal hardworking to be able to do well in school
She also said some students have personal problem and have to be handled with a lot of attention and consideration the kind. She challenged the people to avoid blames and rather try to find a solution of how to work to better the children who are coming up. also encouraged people to avoid confrontation and rather show respect to one another as dialogue solves everything.
