6.1.16 By Mary Tioko Do not be afraid for Iam with you, Christ Says today



Christ has told the people in the scriptures of today not to be afraid for he is with them in their lives and all that they do. Speaking in a mass during his homily, the visiting priest Fr. Sixbert Kiondo who is the parish priest of Kangatosa Parish said that people have fears in their lives which they need to shan away from them for Christ is with them.

 He said this at St. Augustine’s Cathedral church in the mass that was led by pupils from St. Monica Girls primary and St. Augustine’s boys primary and nursery schools as they open their schools with mass this term.

Fr. Kiondo urged all to love one another for God himself is love. He said that one cannot pretend to love and serve God if one does not love his or her neighbor. He encouraged all to love one another and above all be optimistic in life so as not to live in fear. He said that when one puts his/her plans before God everything will be fine.

1.1.16 By Mary Tioko County Executive committee of health Donates Baby clothes to infants at County Hospital.



The County Executive Committee member of Health Turkana County, Hon. Jane Ajele accompanied the chief officer Agnes Mana  made mothers to smile at maternity ward and pediatrics ward where they distributed Baby shawls and other baby clothes to the new born babies in the entire ward and milk to all the children in the children ward.

Hon. Ajele urged all mothers to deliver in the hospital so at to seek specialized attention to minimize infant deaths and get quality services for these maternal services are free and expectant mothers need to be supported by all relatives and family members to seek these services.
Hon. Ajele took the opportunity to convey her wishes of the new year and the entire Health Family of Turkana county to all the people of Turkana and called for unity in service delivery in the new year.

She also encouraged all to cooperate with doctors when they seek medical attention and especially change their attitudes towards the oxygen for people fear and refuse to be helped through this method.

1.1.16 By Mary Tioko Be Good shepherds in the new year: Says Fr. Evans Ekai.



Fr. Evans Linus Ekai has challenged all people to be good shepherds as they usher in the new year of 2016 and allow Christ to guide them in their plans. Speaking today morning at St. Augustine’s Cathedral church lodwar, Fr.Evans said that people need to be merciful so that the mercy of God becomes meaningful in their lives. He called upon all to be good stewards of all that has been entrusted to their care.

Fr. Ekai said that people need to actualize their plans and dreams that have been planned in this year of 2016 and try to be realistic. He urged the residents of Turkana county to be vigilant and hold the leaders accountable in their assignments and all that they promised to offer to them. He challenged leaders to be visionary and focused and above all live their talk and act. He said that good leadership starts in the family and spreads to other areas where one has the responsibility. He wished all God’s blessings and unity of purpose in the year.

Christians of St Augustine  were urged to learn to appreciate one another in everything they do. This was said  by Father Isaiah Ajiri during the celebration of the second Sunday of the ordinary day of the Church Calendar.
Reading from the first reading in the book of Isaiah and the gospel from the book of John, Fr Ajiri said that Jesus Christ performed miracles in wedding ceremony of cana shows that he was obedient to His mother.
                                 
He also added that there are different duties in Church such as ushers, choir, Preachers and urged Christians to respect everyone’s position and pray for each other.
The families were also reminded to respect their marriages as it means bonding together as one body and listening to each other. Fr. Ajiri also added that respect and obedience form the base to gauge faithfulness and said that it helps us to learn, forgive and forget the past.
                                   
He concluded by saying that Christians should fulfill the covenant by being obedient through following the commandments  of God in Church and outside without resisting. 

By ken simiyu 4.1.2016 Security guard was found dead along Lodwar Main Bridge



A security guard was  found dead by the Lodwar main bridge. Confirming the incident, OCPD Turkana central Joel kirui said that a male adult aged 50 yrs who was a guard at Ministry of Education was found lying offside the road near Turkwel bridge along Lodwar Kanamkemer Road.

The OCPD however added that the body had bruises on the right jaw believed to have been hit by the blunt object.
                     
OCPD is appealing to anyone with information to inform the police officers as investigation is still going on, the body was taken to Lodwar referral mortuary pending autopsy.
               
All people are warned to be vigilant in case they suspect anything to report to the police station.

14.1.16 By Ken Simiyu Food Premises in Kakuma Town risk being closed down by Public health.



The ministry of Public health Turkana County has cracked down food premises and Wholesalers that do not meet the standards of public health in their exercise which started in Kakuma Town Turkana West sub-county. The exercise that is led by Deputy Director of Public health Mr. Alfred Emaniman Ikeny and Lodwar County and referral Hospital Director Gilchrist Lokoel is geared towards streamlining the issues of sanitation and hygiene within the County.


The health team has managed to close down some hotels, Lodgings, wholesales, clubs that do not meet the required standards in Kakuma Town. This was prompted by complaints from residents of poor health in Turkana west.



Some of the items destroyed included drinks like reds which was picked from Mungai Base 3 found to be expired and worse still, the owners changing the expiry dates to look recent by forging. The exercise has just started in kakuma and will be replicated in other sub-counties to ensure that the people of Turkana enjoy quality health services.
