3 people lost their lives after more than 100 suspected pokot
raiders from the neighboring county ambushed Kasurokorio village in
Kalemung’orok, Turkana south at 3 pm killing 3people on the spot and made away
with 3,212 shoats belonging to 42 families.
Confirming the incident Kalemungorok area Chief Allan Lokeun said that
the raiders followed and ambushed herdsmen who were driving the shoats to the
river and killed them.
The raiders attacked the same area thrice and the shoats were driven
towards Takaiywa, Kaarun and Kasses. The raid has occurred after leaders from
Pokot, Turkana and the national government met in Kitale as they discussed the
way forward towards achieving peace among conflicting pastoral communities. The
meeting was organized by the Catholic Church.
