County
executive in charge of Public health and sanitation Jane Ajele officially
launched laundry machines that included a washing, a dryer and ironing machines
which are expected to boost the hygiene level at the Lodwar county and referral
hospital. The machines which were procured at a cost of Ksh. 15 million from
the Total solution health firm will be operated by trained personnel and will
work at least 6 hours a day.
Health
and sanitation executive Jane Ajele while launching the machines at the Lodwar
county and referral hospital said that the supplier will be responsible for maintenance
of the machines for a duration of 1 year and after that they will engage in
another service contract.
The
executive added that this is the first time the hospital is receiving 3 laundry
machines which are up to standard because before they only received a washing
machine without the dryer and ironing machines.
Lodwar
county and referral hospital medical supretendant Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel said the
ministry purchased the machines for the interest of the patients so that
service delivery can be hygienically improved.
The
machines will be operating 2 at a time to reduce the rate of electric power
consumption which is expected to rise drastically.
