Turkana county ministry of water, irrigation and agriculture led by
executive in charge Beatrice Askul today handed over 8 generator sets to
various wards which will be used to pump water. The executive handed over 8 gen
sets while at her ministerial office in Kanamkemer to add on to the 7
previously given out taking the tally to 15 generators sets. Some of the areas
likely to benefit with the generator sets are Lokichar, Katilu, Nakwamoru,
Lobei, Lorugum, Lokitaung, Lowareng’ak and Lokori. The cost of the 15 generator
sets tallied up to Sh. 14 million.
Speaking when handing over the generator sets to ward representatives,
water and agriculture county executive Beatrice Askul said they sampled some
areas where the generators were old and out of service and decided to replace
them with new gen sets.
She added that there are targeted areas like Kapedo, Lobei, Turkwel and
Nadapal which will also likely to benefit with the gen sets that will be
procured in the near future.
