2 people including a national reservist police were injured in today’s
11 am attack at Nawoyaregae in Nakwamoru sub location of Kaputir location,
Turkana south sub-county. About 70 bandits believed to be from Pokot county
raided the village today and managed to overpower more than 20 national
reservist police thus escaping with 326 shoats. The shoats are believed to be
belonging to 8 families living in the area and they were driven towards
Takaywa, Kaarun and Kasses.
Kaptir location chief, Charles Lopuya said they tried resisting the
attack but they were overpowered by the high number of the bandits.
He added that the government should beef up security in the area so that
the farmers, teachers and scholars can be safe.
The injured were taken to Kaptir health centre as they wait to be
referred to the Lodwar county and referral hospital. The region is still under tension
with the residents fearing that the bandits will be back.
