Local news – 10.4.11 - By Mary Tioko - Life is Lose and Gain, Fr. Manzi says

“Life is Lose and Gain” Fr. John Kizito Manzi said today at St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish during his homily. The priest who was reflecting on what the readings of the day were saying said that Christ is always giving us a chance to gain in our lives. Fr. Manzi said that when the environment in which people live becomes favorable to them then life become s a gain and vice versa when the opposite happens.
In the readings of the day he reflected on a sign of dry bones which is a symbol of death and said that the Christians can change their dry bones during this Lenten season to be life through the various activities in lent of Prayers, charity and fasting. He also said that the life of Christians becomes dry when one does not allow Jesus christ to take control of ones life for Christ says in his scriptures that whoever believes in him shall have life and have it in full.
Also in the mass Fr. Manzi received the Catechumen's who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Baptism. He said that these catechumens are looking for life in Jesus christ by preparing themselves in all the stages concerned. He said that the catechumens are giving Jesus chance to recreate them through the sacraments. Fr. Manzi also received the young christian workers (Y C W) who came to commit themselves to be young workers in the same event and old members renewing their commitment to the movement. He said that the young workers are giving God a chance to recreate themselves , others and also God through their activities and commitment to the gospel of Jesus christ. Fr. Manzi said that Christians need to resurrect themselves through the sacrament of penance for it gives them renewed strength of serving God once again.
