Local news – 7.11.11 - By Jared Lorot - 38 Christians confirmed at all Saints Kainuk Parish

38 Christians from all saints Kainuk Parish received the sacrament of confirmation yesterday. The confirmations were presided by Rt. Rev. Bishop Dominic Kimengich who was visiting the Parish for the 2nd time in the year.
His lordship said that the sacrament of confirmations is like the sacrament of the Eucharist that strengthens them and opens their own ways to God. He anointed those confirmed with holy oil which strengthens and guides them in their lives. Touching on the Gospel of the day, his lordship urged the faithfuls to leave and abandon the earthly materials, which he said blinds people and prevents them from seeing God.
Bishop Dominic encouraged the faithfuls not to revenge to their enemies for what they have done for them so as to maintain purity in their hearts, peace within them and their enemies since God is against that. He called upon all to live together despite of the tribalism and discrimination. He also asked them to pray to the virgin Mary to intercede for them so as to enter the kingdom of God.
The parish priest of All saints Fr. Javier Gonzalez thanked the bishop for celebrating the mass, presiding the sacrament of confirmation. He gave the breakdown of the existing groups in the parish as follows: 70 registered P.M.C members, C.M.A, C.W.A, and Holiday youth pro-gramme. The parish priest said that they would be having elections of the new officials of the church soon. Assistant parish Priest Fr. Fransisco Trujillo is assisting in food for work distributions and is also helping the church in writing and connections of the power acting like the technician of the parish.

LOCAL NEWS – 4.12.2010 - SAMMY EKENO - SIX PEOPLE CONFIRMED AT ST. BORNIFACE IN NASIGER

It was on a Saturday morning of 4th DEC 2010 whereby Fr. Angel valdivia together with other Christians celebrated mass at st. Borniface Church in Nasiger.
The mass started at around 10.00am where the father welcomed people and informed them that it was a special day since some of them were being confirmed. He also gave hope that time will come when the snakes or any wild animal will join together with man and enjoy life. Apart from that he mentioned about strong and weak branches,where the weak branches can be molded Into another shape while the stronger ones cannot be molded. He therefore encouraged the Christians to be the strong branches.
The confirmation took place in joy whereas Angel promised them that they will be given radios from Akicha FM so as to follow the proceedings of mass which symbolizes Christmas gifts to them .The songs from Nasiger choir members were recorded successfully as Angel went ahead blessing each and every one at last.

LOCAL NEWS - 11.07.10 - Confirmations at St.Gabriel Kangatosa parish - By Mary Tioko.

The Christian community of St.Gabriel Kangatosa Parish today received the sacrament of confirmation in a colorful celebration animated by His lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich and Fr.Damien Eripon. The 284 Christians drawn from all the five outstations of Kangatosa Parish received the sacrament of confirmation. These include the Natiir outstation (65), Naoros (60), Kangatosa(74), Akatuman(22), Katagilae(43) and Kangagetei (20). Each station accompanied by the chairperson , Mr. Mike Ekiru, Mrs. Esther Ekiru, Mr.Dominic Losike, Mr.William Nakeor, Mr. James payan, Mrs. Christine Are respectively. The parish council chairman Mr. Johnson Ekwaar reported that the Parish was officially opened by His Lordship Bishop Patrick Harrington on 23rd September 2007 as a project of St.Gabriel which is a small Christian community of St.Augustine's Cathedral Parish Lodwar. In his homily His Lordship Bishop Dominic Kimengich commented in the readings of the day saying that they touched on the life of human beings. He said that God has given us an opportunity to choose life and not death. He encouraged the faithfuls to love one another and help them as Christians. He also echoed the stand of the catholic church on the new proposed constitution saying it is faulty as it permits abortion which is killing and is against the 5th commandments of thou shall not kill and thus advised the Christians to reject it and vote NO come August 4th. His lordship explaining why the church says NO saying that life is sacred and precious as it is a gift from God and no one has a right to take it away until natural death. He encouraged all those confirmed to keep their faith and guard it well from the evil one. He also commented on the development of the area encouraging the community members to be inquisitive on how the CDF funds are used. The community experience poor service delivery from the local authority. The Kangatosa community complained of lack of water, poor markets for their basketry and lack of Transport as the people depend on the Parish Vehicle as the only source of transport in the area. The parish priest Fr. Philip Lotiman thanked the bishop, and Fr.Damien Eripon for visiting his parish and increasing the Christian community through confirmations.
