As standard eight graduates wait to join secondary school others who did not do well together with the parents are blaming the school for the performance
The private schools which topped in the 2010 primary school performance has brought a lot of challenges to the public school as most parents now prefer taking children to private schools than public schools
Speaking to radio Akicha Reporter in her office the headmistress nataparkakono primary Mrs. Ruth Akori said everybody has a part to play in educating children she further said parents have the
obligation of monitoring the child from the moment they go school and even try to follow up the performance of the child because a child needs a parents support teachers support and also personal hardworking to be able to do well in school
She also said some students have personal problem and have to be handled with a lot of attention and consideration the kind. She challenged the people to avoid blames and rather try to find a solution of how to work to better the children who are coming up. also encouraged people to avoid confrontation and rather show respect to one another as dialogue solves everything.

LOCAL NEWS - BY PRAXIDES KHISA - LODWAR TOWN REMAINS CALM DURING FESTIVE SEASON.
The new law on hours of alcohol drinking which was implemented on august 13 2010 has contributed a lot on curbing crime and keeping the town safe and calm.
According to alcoholic drinks control act part 4 2010, it stated that the time for drinking should start at05 pm to 11 pm in the evening while night clubs should be opened at 7 pm up to 3 am.
Speaking to Radio Akicha in his office , the officer commanding police station Mr. Evans Omuga said that , this has reduced the number of crime rate in lodwar town during this season.
The OCS said that they have brought together regular police, administration police and Kenya police reservist as a team where they have been placed in strategic part of the town to cope with the instances of thuggery and ill wills.
He further said that, this will go on until 4th January 2011 to make sure that everybody celebrates the festive season peaceful and without fear.

Livestock businessmen popularly known in the local language as (Ngimuchurus) were happy as their livestock were selling at good prices as compared to the previous seasons when goats prices were really down. The “Ngimuchurus” are optimistic that the new year will be on their side.
The goats and sheep were brought from all corners of Turkana county to the market as the new year celebrations will take place tomorrow. The saleyard is so busy as families are flocking to buy their best for the big day.
Speaking to one of Radio Akicha reporters at the saleyard today, Mr. Lotir Eleman Diyo who had brought his goats for sale said that the sales are good this time as compared to last years event as many people now come to buy goats.
In addition, he also said that as sellers they hope and expect a prosperous change in this field come 2011.

LOCAL NEWS - BY SOFARI WYCLIFFE - SOWETO RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG KAWALASE RIVER BANKS RELEAVED
Residents of Soweto village in Turkana County will soon be relieved from floods following decisions by Child Fund Kenya (CFK), World Food Programme(WFP) and the Government of Kenya to build gabbions in the shores of R. Kawalase to prevent flooding in the next rainy season.
Speaking to Akicha reporter in his office, Child Fund Manager Mr. Peter Lochuch said that, the action is meant to obstruct they the community from the looming danger of floods as one way of disaster preparedness In Turkana county.
Mr. Lochuch also said the same projects have been implemented in Nadoto, Nadapal and kaitese areas. The manager also said that these projects are given out according to felt needs of the various communities and mentioned that , pump installation projects, pasture growing, and irrigation are among other projects given priorities.
Kawalase river has been ranging havoc to the residents, displacing them and also taking away precious lives of people in the area, living them hopeless and depressed.

As you are drinking, washing and cooking with water from the tap, the residents of Longech, Ichakun and Natambusio are using water drawn directly from shallow wells in River Kawalase.
Speaking to Radio akicha reporter early today at the river, one of the villagers Mzee Leonard said, they fear for their lives since the water is contaminated by wind, goats and dogs who are also using the same well.
The residents are now calling upon the government and other well wishers to shift aid for them to access safe and clean water.

Kare Academy has produced the best two pupils in the just announced K.C.P.E results in Turkana County.
Celebrations filled the air at the school compound, in the families of the top pupils Longole Ewal Samon and Emuria Lokitaung Joshua.
The school has not only featured in Turkana county but also been was ranked among the top 100 best schools in Rift Valley province.
Speaking to Akicha reporters at the school today, the head teacher Mr. Maurice Wakhungu said that his students Longole Ewal Samson and Emuria Lokitaung Joshua had total points of 417 and 415 out of a possible 500 respectively and have been ranked positions 51 and 82 nationally.
Radio Akicha wishes the best pupils best of luck as they prepare to join secondary school and urge the rest of the pupils on the race to put efforts in their studies.
