The parents from Lodwar mixed primary school assembled in the school hall to fill the report card guidelines as developed by the the ministry of Education with national tax payers association today. The exercise that is said to be taking place in all primary schools in Turkana County seems to go on nicely as parents are responding well as said By Mr. Akoyo who is the deputy head teacher teacher of Lodwar mixed Primary.
The meeting that was chaired by the chairman Mr. William Emathe was assisted by the trained personel on the document Mrs. Angelina Lore brought together 30 parents on board.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Emathe said the report card was introduced to primary schools to be used as a tool to share information between parents , teachers and school management committees. Mr. Emathe also said that the document will encouraged parents to take active role in improving the quality of education in their local primary schools. Mrs. Lore added that the document enables parents to demand accountability from head teachers, teachers, school management committees, District Education Officers,DE Os staff, and Debs.
She said that Parents are reminded that children are the main stakeholders in the right to quality education and thus parents have a right to improve the quality of education for girls and boys in public schools. Mrs. Lore encouraged all the parents to bring their children to school and monitor their progress while in schools.
