Today Radio Akicha has started the distribution of solar radios to the community. The first radio of this initiative has gone to Lomunyen Ekirion. The Christian community of St. Peter’s, Lomunyen Ekirion, an outstation of St. Augustine’s Cathedral located 80 Km from Lodwar town, has celebrated today the Eucharist in a especially cheerful way. After the celebration of the mass Fr. Angel explained the community how to use the machine and also about the advantages of having a solar radio, which will save them from having to walk so many kilometres just to get a pair of batteries for their radio. (INSERT) The Small Christian Community has been encouraged to gather around the radio during their prayer meetings so that they can follow Radio Akicha’s evening devotion and other educational programmes. From now on this remote community will be a little bit closer to the world around them. This marks the beginning of a project that is going to distribute more than 150 radios in the different communities and schools in and around Lodwar and going as far as Lorogum, gold, Kangatosa and Kerio.
