Local news By ken simiyu 29.6.2015 Lodwar market was officially opened today by Governor.



Lodwar Market was  commissioned by Governor Nanok accompanied by the ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industrialization Hon Linus Ebenyo with other county Executives of various ministries.
Hon Nanok said that the market will enable the business operators to run smoothly as they have aplace to keep their goods and also the market will be secured.
The Market which was constructed by the National government is Now ready for use although it has taken long but under the able hands of the county government people will be free to start selling their goods.
                    
On the other hand minister for Tourism Hon Linus Ebenyo added that the market will create chance for the pedestrians and bodaboda operators as those who sale their goods in the streets shall all move to the new market.
            
One month have been given free for the business operator to use the market without paying the tax.            

Local news By ken simiyu 29.6.2015. Turkana county government budget 2015/2016 read today.



Turkana county government budget was today read by the county executive for the ministry of finance and planning Hon Paul Nabwin at the county Assembly.
Speaking after  reading the budget Hon Paul Nabwin said that the ministry of public service, Decentralized administration and disaster management was given the lion’s share.
The other priorities was given to Education, Health, Water, Agriculture, Roads, security youths and women empowerment among others.
Hon Nabwini however added that this year’s Budget is friendly to common man as it touches to all citizens that will Improve the lives of Turkana county community.
Turkana county was allocated 13.4 Billion more than last year’s Budget where it was 13.1 Billion, the county government will reduce relief food as they plan to invest in Agricultural sector.

Christians of St Augustine Cathedral Catholic Church  were told to do good things in the eyes of God as  God watches every steps they make in Church, School Home and every  where they go.
In His homily of the 14th Sunday of the year Fr Evans Ekai said that Jesus did good things but not all of them appreciated His work, He performed miracles, Hilled people with different diseases but people provoked him even his own disciples denied him during his hardship moment.
Fr Ekai however said that many people in this world are not being appreciated for what they are doing to change other people’s lives, especially teachers are being taken for granted since the  era of President Moi teachers have never been settled
                       
On the other hand Turkana county government deputy governor Hon Peter Ekai who also attended the Sunday service said that the county government of Turkana and Pokot started peace initiative and for the past one month passengers can travel without fear.
Hon Ekai added that the two communities now are mingling as they do life activities together  such as mining, trade together and now people are enjoying along the bordering communities.
            
Hon Ekai also warned the groups of youths who are terrorizing residents of Lodwar Town to be careful as security officers are aware and might be land in the wrong hand of the government.

KEN SIMIYU. 3.7.2015 The skyward express launched new flight that will be connecting from Lodwar, Eldoret via Nairobi.



The new flight was officially launched at Lodwar Airstrip by the senator of Turkana county Hon John munyesi.
The flight which has acapercity of 50 passengers will be operating 4 times per week.
According to Director of operations skyward express Joseph Ariko the flight will be from Lodwar to Eldoret then connect to Nairobi from Monday, Tuesday, and Friday weekly.
Director added that their services are fair and affordable to a common man as from Lodwar to Eldoret their charges are 7500, Lodwar to Nairobi 13500.
The flight will boost the economy of Turkana County by carrying investors and Tourists and they hope to  add another flight to reduce the queuing of passengers.

Local news By ken simiyu 1.7.2015. CITIZENS URGED TO DONATE BLOOD AND SAVE LIFE.



Lodwar Referral Hospital has appealed for blood donation from the Public to Increase its blood Bank.
Speaking in his office Director of Lodwar referral Hospital Dr Gilchrist Lokoel said that the Hospital is running shot of blood and appealed for public to donate blood to save the life of patients.
Dr Lokoel said that normally the Hospital records 300 to 350 binds of blood and now the Hospital has only 50 Binds of Blood in its Blood bank.
The blood donation is commonly noted during the opening of Schools as students play major part in blood donation and when schools closed the hospital faces challenges of getting blood.
            
The Director also commented about what people have been complaining of being charged for scorpion, snake and dog bite medicine and added that these medicines are available and free of charge and no health worker should charge for such services.
              
Dr Gilchrist added that cholera outbreak was reported at Kapedo last week and the health workers were sent at Kapedo and managed to control the situation where by cases of 46 patients were reported. The health workers rushed at Kapedo in Turkana East and everything was under control no death was reported and the situatioin is now contented.  
           
He urged people to observe public health regulations and cautioned that to avoid cases of cholera people should boil water, wash their hands, cover the food and also report cases of cholera if suspected in the village for immediate action to be taken.
