The Turkana county Education offices
in collaboration with children’s office and adult education department joined
hands to take street children’s back to school. Speaking to news reporters, the
nominated MCA Hon Ruth Kuya said that they started with 28 street children and
the number arose to 68, out of 68 the
girls were 3 and yesterday were taken to
Turkana girls primary school where boys were taken to Lorugum Boys and
Napeililim primary school. The chief officer in Education office Amina Ewoi
urged the well-wishers to support building the rescue center of street
children. She added that in Education sector they did not have the budget for
street children this year and hopping that next financial year they will be
included in the budget. The Adult Education officer Mr. Dominick Ngoko said
that they started mobilizing the street children last year in August
with a small group where they were meeting every evening at Chamunga for
counseling and spiritual nourishment provided by Pr.Bonface Lokuruka.
