Turkana community celebrated
International day of people living with disability at Mikeka ground in Lodwar
Town. During the celebration the minister of health Hon Jane Ajele informed the
Turkana community that 15% of the world population is people living with
disability which shows that disabled are the largest Minority people in the
world.
The minister added that the
barrier that hindered people with disabilities to engage in development are
physical, environmental information, communication and technology which results
from legislation policy and society attitude that discriminate people with
disability.
Hon Jane Ajele however said that
the county government will support them through social service and ministry of Education to support them; she
said that the county government is going to work with Partners like Merlin, Dioceses of Lodwar, Red Cross
and other partners. The guest of honor
added that they will ensure all structures are friendly to people with
disability, offices, schools and many facilities that disables will need.
