The Turkana County Education Officer
in collaboration with children’s Office and Adult Education department concerted their efforts to take street children back to school. Speaking to our news reporter, the
nominated MCA Hon Ruth Kuya said that they started with 28 street children and
the number arose to 68, out of 68 three of them were girls and yesterday were taken to
Turkana girls primary school where boys were taken to Lorugum Boys and
Napeililim primary school. The chief Officer in Education Office Amina Ewoi
urged the well-wishers to support in building the Rescue Center for street
children. She added that in Education Sector they did not have that budget for
the street children and hopping that next financial year they will
include in the budget. The Adult Education officer Mr. Dominick Ngoko said
that they mobilized the street children last year in August where they were meeting every evening at Chamunga for
counseling and spiritual nourishment by Pr. Bonface Lokuruka.
