The U.S Embassy accompanied by Turkana County Executive Minister
for Health and Public Health Director unveiled a new maternity ward, water tank
and an incinerator at Kainuk. Speaking during the opening occasion, USAID Kenya
Director, Mr. Mark Carrato said that USAID is committed to help the Government
of Kenya to improve service delivery to the citizens at the local level. A
water tank with a capacity of 50,000 liters was opened that will provide clean
water for the health facility and the incinerator will take care of waste
management issues. Mr. Mark Carrato continued by saying that access to clean
affordable water and adequate sanitation is paramount for the development of
this Nation and that USAID has invested 10.5 billion shillings in integrated
resiliency activities in the arid and semi-arid areas.
