Nabei village of Kalimorok in Turkana South was attacked by
raiders believed to be from the neighboring Pokot County and managed to escape
with 502 cattle. Confirming the incident, Kaptir Location Chief, Mr. Lopoya
said that three herdsmen narrowly escaped death during the raid that occurred
at 1 pm. The cattle were driven towards the direction of Kakawa and Karumu in
Pokot West and up to now the villagers have not recovered their stolen
prestige. One raider is confirmed dead after an exchange of fire between the
herdsmen and the raiders. The raid seemed as a mock to the ongoing cross border
peace message activities where 5 Youth Football teams from Pokot and Turkana Community
are playing to promote peace while for the raiders its business as usual.
