LOCAL NEWS - ROBERT KARIUKI - 13-8-2014 - 14 DISABLED GROUPS IN TURKANA CENTRAL SUB-COUNTY RECEIVE RELIEF FOOD DONATIONS

The Marginalized Community in Turkana Central Sub-County which included HIV/AIDS and T.B self help group and the disabled groups received relief food donated by the County Government. The food was distributed to 280 people from 3 centers in the Township and Kanamkemer wards. The distribution began at Nakwamekwi Centre where 3 groups of 20 members each received 10 bags of maize, 3 bags of beans and 20 litres of cooking oil to share amongst themselves. The other 2 centers were Napetet-Mission Center with 6 groups of 20 members and Kanamkemer Center with 5 groups of 20 members. The two Centers received a total of 23 bags of maize and 6 bags of beans. Speaking during the distribution process, Turkana Central Sub-County Administrator, Mrs. Esther Aremon Kiong’a, said that the Napetet-Mission Center was the best group in terms of credibility and organization.
