Community
representatives, County Government Representatives and Officials of the Tullow
Oil Company held a dialogue forum at Tullow Oil Company based in Lokichar to discuss
the involvement of the community in the oil exploration process. Speaking
during the dialogue forum the National Co-coordinator of Kenya Land Alliance,
Mr. Odenda Lumumba said the sustainability of the Turkana community is
endangered because the resources are being extracted. One of the main issues
discussed was about Land Governance where the problem arises from the investors
who require large pieces of land for their own use. The dialogue was to find a
way in which the community will be involved in the decision making process so
as to avoid land grabbing considering they need this land for pastorialism.
