The minister for Energy and Natural Resources
Turkana County hon. Rhoda Loyor visited the Lodwar G.K prison on 31st
October 2014 in a meeting organized by youth coordinator to empower the inmates
under the ministry of interior and co – ordination of the national government.
The meeting which is the third to be held this year
is aimed at empowering inmates through entertainment and also encouragement
from various speakers.
The youth coordinator outlined issues faced by
inmates especially shortage of power, which is a challenge to those preparing
to seat for the national examination for primary school this year.
The minister promised to donate solar panels for use
during studies and other activities. She went ahead and reminded them to work
hard in their education for that is the key to survival.
The inmates who are around 450 also lack enough
water storage equipment which is a challenge especially during water rationing
or shortage.
The minister also promised to donate a cool box and
also help to talk to her colleague in the water ministry to b able to come up
with solutions to curb the situation.
