Oxfam in
collaboration with practical action, UKAid and the ministry for water and
irrigation launched a WASH project funded by department for international
development (DFID) at St. Teresa pastoral centre in Lodwar Turkana County.
The four year
project which is aimed at improving and sustaining wash services for at least
250,000 people in four counties, was attended by members from partner
organization and leaders from the Turkana county Government.
Speaking during
the launch the ASAL project manager for Oxfam Roxanne Abdullali said, the
project aims to work with the ministry for water to help in strategic planning
on how to bring water to the people of Turkana County, and that 246million
Kenyan shillings have been set aside for the project.
Present in the
launch was the deputy regional director for Oxfam Mrs. Dedo Matikojo who said
that it’s important to have joint responsibility to ensure the success of the
project.
The deputy
governor Turkana County peter Ekai who said that the county government will
support the project and
are ready to work with the partners organizations to ensure success of the project.
