6 street
boys schooling at the Riverside Adventist schools in Lodwar town are now
preparing for their K.C.P.E exams which will be kicking off on 7th
of November despite many challenges that they are facing since they were
admitted in the school late last year.
This is the
first set of street children who are going to sit for K.C.P.E after they were
rescued from the streets by the adult education officer who saw their interest
in education. Speaking to Radio Akicha today, Adult education officer in charge
of Turkana central, Mr. Dominic Ngoko said he requested Riverside Adventist
schools management to accept the boys which they did by interviewing them.
Elsewhere,
Riverside school head teacher, Mr. Bernard Odhiambo said it is the
responsibility of the community at large to ensure that the 6 boys are
continuing with their secondary education after they complete their primary
education this year.
David Ekai,
who is a street boy and a candidate, has thanked the efforts of those who
rescued him and his colleagues from the chains of street life however he says
there are still challenges facing them as they approach the exam period.
The candidates are now hoping to
perform well after showing remarkable results in past exams.
