The
bodies of four police officers, who died in an ambush in kapedo Turkana County
last week, were brought to Lodwar where they will be laid to rest.
The
four were among 21 people including 3 civilians killed while going to retrieve
the scrap of a car burned in an earlier attack, at the same place by suspected Pokot
raiders.
Speaking
during a prayer service for the deceased conducted at A.P church in Lodwar,
leaders of Turkana county led by M.p turkana central john Lodepe, M.P for
turkana south James Lomenen and minister for energy and natural resources madam
Rhoda Loyor appeal to the national government to produce security not only in
kapedo but also the other borders of the warring communities, to help eradicate
future killings and also border of Pokot and turkana should be clearly marked
to solve border conflicts.
They
also support the ongoing operation in Kapedo and wish that the security
officers don’t just look for guns but also the culprits especially leaders who
incite people to be brought to justice and serve as a lesson to others.
Present
in the service was the senior commander for administration police Mr. Fred Mwei
who said they have already over 50 suspects in custody and hopes they will
catch more. He condoned the families of the deceased and said they will not be
forgotten by the government.
He
added that the government will give turkana county first priority during the
distribution of security equipment and police officer will be provided with
enough protective equipment while going for operations.
